DIY Mini Lathe Machine Build | Part 1: Headstock & Tailstock Assembly
Welcome back to the workshop! In this video, we are kicking off an exciting new project: building a handmade mini lathe machine designed specifically for normal and light-duty work. If you love DIY metalworking, tool making, and building your own workshop machinery, this step-by-step assembly guide is for you.
In Part 1, we focus on assembling the core structural components of the lathe. Watch the full process as we fit the high-precision bearings, secure the heavy-duty headstock housing, install the drive spindle, and mount the 3-jaw chuck. We also walk through aligning the electric motor, setting up the pulley system with a dual V-belt drive, and positioning the adjustable tailstock on the main lathe bed frame.
By the end of this video, the physical backbone of the lathe is fully assembled and tested for smooth mechanical rotation!
