xing and mastering in beautiful Colorado just south of Denver. We have professionally treated live and control rooms and a great selection of equipment you will find in every major studio, but besides that we also have something a lot harder to find, and that is a passion to drive you to make the best music of your career. This tone is absolutely insane and unique for the Steel Society EP!

We’re using a Soldano Astro 20 preamp into the Mesa Bandlander power amp with a MXR Classic Overdrive in front. From there it goes into the Mesa Cab with an SM57 and M201 (blended way below) to round out the bite a touch. All of that goes into a pair of CAPI VP28s and Phoenix Audio Gyrator EQs.

It’s absolutely perfect sounding for this EP! Finishing vocals this weekend and then on to mixing!

After 17 years of recording, I have completed what in my opinion is the “Best Vocal Chain on the F*cking Planet” for Rock and Metal. This Soyuz Microphones 017 tube microphone > Chandler Limited Tg2 Preamp > Phoenix Audio Gyrator EQ > Empirical Labs Distressor sounds absolutely unreal!

Together it all sounds very natural and 3D, while having presence without harsh sibilance. I couldn’t be happier with how it is sounding on these records! I’m still booking late October and beyond, so now is the time to plan your project for this Fall/Winter!
