A piece of Perkasie History 💚

Every photograph on our walls has a story and we love when someone walks through our doors and helps us tell it.

Pennridge graduate Suzanne Laverick-Stone recently visited The Perk and pointed out her uncle, Ronald Hendricks, in our photograph of the 1952 Perkasie Legion baseball team. Ronald was the younger brother of Suzanne’s mother, Marlene Hendricks.

One of five children born to H. Calvin and Bessie Hendricks, Ronald grew up on Third Avenue in Perkasie. He graduated from Sellersville-Perkasie High School, the predecessor to Pennridge, and was the only one of his siblings to attend college.

A talented athlete, Ronald earned a football scholarship to Bucknell University, where he played quarterback. 🏈

We’re grateful to Suzanne for sharing her family’s special connection to this photograph. Stories like Ronald’s bring the faces displayed on our walls to life. We love preserving and sharing the history in Perkasie and the Pennridge community!
