𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐮𝐱𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲!

American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 133, members will be distributing poppies at various locations Friday, May 22, including: the American Legion Club Room, Walmart, Buchheit’s, Hoeckele’s, Barnes Mart, MotoMart (near McDonald’s), Park-Et Restaurant, Pit Stop South, Stonie’s, Rozier’s Grocery and True Value. Pictured from left, are Auxiliary members Carol Taylor, Perryville mayor Larry Riney and Auxiliary member Nancy Wilfong. “We hope you stop by, get a memorial poppy to wear and honor those who have given their lives for their country so that we may be free,” the American Legion Auxiliary said in a statement. “May we always have a special place in our hearts for those who have fallen and those still serving our country. Donations are appreciated so that we can continue to support our veterans. Thank you for your support.” The local American Legion Auxiliary has distributed poppies for several years, making it an annual tradition. All proceeds go toward veterans’ organizations.
National Poppy Day, recognized each year the Friday prior to Memorial Day, is celebrated in multiple countries around the world.
