In a battle of state senators, Sens. Nathan Johnson, D-Dallas, and Mayes Middleton, R-Galveston, are poised to appear on the Texas attorney general ballot this November.

With 244 of Texas’ 254 counties reporting some election results May 26, unofficial election results show Johnson beating former Galveston Mayor Joe Jaworski with 59.14% of the vote to Jaworski's 40.86%

In a battle of state senators, Sens. Nathan Johnson, D-Dallas, and Mayes Middleton, R-Galveston, are poised to appear on the Texas attorney general ballot this November.

With 244 of Texas’ 254 counties reporting some election results May 26, unofficial election results show Middleton beating U.S. Rep. Chip Roy with 55.8% of the vote to Roy’s 44.2%.

Texas officials released a draft of the 2027 State Water Plan, projecting that $174 billion will be needed over the next 50 years to prevent a water crisis. 💧

The plan includes 3,000 proposed water management projects and 6,700 recommended strategies to address growing demand and declining supplies as the state's population continues to increase. The cost is more than twice the amount projected in the 2022 plan.

🚨Early voting runs May 18-22, with runoff election day on May 26.

Texas runoff elections are happening this month after dozens of state and local primary races ended without a majority winner in March. Registered voters can cast their ballots during early voting or on election day to select nominees for various seats including U.S. Senate, attorney general and lieutenant governor.

Following pressure from camp operators and lawmakers, Texas has paused a fiber-optic internet requirement for summer camps.

The requirement was part of new camp safety laws designed to strengthen emergency preparedness at Texas summer camps.

Camp operators argued the fiber-optic requirement would be impossible to meet in rural and remote areas of the state, with some camps receiving quotes over $1 million for installation.

Under a new agreement, camps that maintain redundant broadband internet services will not have their license revoked as long as they meet all other safety requirements.
