After the recent retirement of coaching legend James Ramsey, Aubrey Independent School District has named Tatum Dobson as the new face of the Lady Chaparrals Softball Program.

Dobson arrived in Aubrey in 2025 as an assistant coach with the Lady Chaps’ volleyball and softball teams and now has the opportunity to write her own chapter in Aubrey ISD’s history books.

“We couldn't be more excited or more proud for her to come in and take over the head softball job here in Aubrey,” said Keith Ivy, Aubrey athletic director and head football coach. “We’ve had a great deal of success and tradition here, and she's following two great legends, Coach [Shon] Ranton and Coach Ramsey, but I know she's ready for the job, and we’re excited for it.”

In their day-to-day jobs working for the city of Pilot Point, Jerry Carnes is the building official, and Jason Poncio is the parks and recreation director.

However, on Saturday, at their joint book signing tour, they celebrated their additional title of authors.

“It's great that we have people pursuing things outside of work that they're passionate about and that they're being successful in those endeavors,” said Stephanie Mills, the human resources director for the city of Pilot Point.

With some thoughtful planning and dedication, it’s possible to maintain a healthy lawn this summer while saving water.

That's the message that Dean Minchillo with Texas A&M AgriLife conveyed at the Water Talk: Lawn Care 101 event Tuesday at Providence Village Town Hall.

“I like to talk to homeowners and try to help them with their lawn, with their watering schedules, and try to make sure that everybody's doing their part to conserve water,” Minchillo said.

Confetti filled the air of the Tioga High School gym on June 4 as 73 Bulldogs celebrated becoming the school's most recent graduates.

The moment was the culmination of an evening celebrating the Class of 2026.

'The Class of 2025 would like to say that they are my favorites, but I have to admit tonight, 2026, you got it done,' THS Principal Keith Kirkland said.

The glam, the glitz and the fashion are what lie on top of the Miss Rodeo Texas royalty horse pageant.

But under all that, for North Texas Fair and Rodeo Princess Mckinley Wagley, the competition is just about a girl who loves her horse.

“I feel like I'm not an absolute, pageant pageant girl, but rodeo pageants—… yeah, let's do it,” Mckinley said. “But, just, modeling and interviewing, that's not me. But the horse ones, I can do. I love them.”
