The Pilot Point Gift Tour grew by about 100 people from 2024 to 2025.

That extra support means more kids and their families can experience a full Christmas celebration.

“It’s always just so special to my heart that we get to help families and kiddos here in the district,” said Mindi Storey-Johnson, who started the gift tour in 2017 in honor of her friend and mentor Sue “Goggie” Wilson Stafford. “This year, we’re going to be able to provide [for] a little bigger need that we haven’t been able to do in the past because of the added 100 tickets.”

Volunteers distribute Angel Tree gifts for area families

A collection of people gathered inside Midway Church on Monday to do some angelic work.

The volunteers were distributing the Angel Tree gifts donated through the work of the Shepherd's Storehouse and the Pilot Point ISD schools.

"It's just awesome to see how many people are so generous, especially this year because we had so many," said Midway's preschool director Leigh Ann Hill. "I was worried about getting that many adopted, but everybody stepped up."

The Pilot Point Bearcats wrestling team hosted an exhibition tournament with Frisco and Gainesville High Schools at Selz Middle School on Tuesday evening.

For the first time in years, the Bearcats’ varsity and junior varsity grapplers faced off in exhibition matches against the Raccoons and Leopards in front of their home crowd.

“Overall, our kids did a really good job, especially our varsity guys who've been around before,” Pilot Point head wrestling coach Reed Eichenberger said. “They did a great job working on techniques and the tools that they've brought with them from previous seasons, and our younger guys did an awesome job of competing. … One thing I'm tremendously proud of across the board is their effort and how hard they work.”

Around 100 people joined together to honor the veterans buried at the Saint Thomas Cemetery in Pilot Point on Saturday.

The group gathered there were part of a national effort to honor the lives of the men and women who have serviced in the United States Armed Forces.

“This year, across the country at more than 5,600 participating locations like this one, there are millions of Americans gathering safely as one nation to remember, honor and teach,” said Kyle Holloway of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Assembly of Pilot Point of the Wreaths Across America ceremony. “We are all proud to be Americans that live in a free society made up of many people, from many walks of life. Lying here before us and in cemeteries throughout this nation are men and women who gave their lives so that we can live in freedom and without fear.”
