1. Keys on 94
2. You Give It
3. Enough Acid

Justin Neal is a U.S.-based DJ and producer whose releases on Portland’s SubSensory Recordings and Detroit’s Bang Tech 12 have propelled his music into the selections of some of the world’s top techno DJs. Following his 2025 dub-techno EP, Refractions, and his killer 2024 debut, Clap Your Hands, Justin Neal returns to SubSensory with another superb techno release titled Keys on 94.

Keys on 94 showcases Justin’s Midwest U.S. roots, with three originals that blend modern rhythms with jacking techno and house elements.

The title track draws upon the Detroit-Chicago dance music connection both musically and conceptually. Swinging 909 percussion, clever vocal snippets and a sparse piano hook make this an instant earworm.

You Give It is banging and bleepy—a clear reference to the classic Chicago sound—delivering lots of jacking energy and plenty of attitude.

Enough Acid wraps up the EP by paying homage to a timeless acid house-inspired sound. This one’s pure dance floor bliss!

Great review and premiere of DJ Justin Neal “Keys on 94” from Data Transmission | N**E Techno. Full release on May 8th!

“Justin Neal’s ‘Keys on 94’ pulls straight from the Detroit and Chicago connection. Swinging 909s, clipped vocal shots and a sparse piano hook do the damage without getting in the way. It is lean, catchy and built for heads-down rooms where the groove matters.”

Justin Neal lands back on SubSensory on Friday, 8th May with ‘Keys on 94’, the lead cut from a sharp three-tracker on the Portland label.

Tonight at Process PDX, SubSensory presents the PDX debut of DJ Tool!

With his deep crates and quicksilver style, Berlin-based DJ Tool () is renowned for his extended closing sets at underground institutions like Tbilisi’s Bassiani, New York’s Basement, and London’s Fold.

We’ve been following DJ Tool for a while, but after hearing his fantastic recent techno sets for SECTION and Loone, we just had to bring him to Portland. He’ll be headlining tonight’s event at Process with a 12:30-close techno set!

Don’t miss this rare chance to see this distinctive artist on the excellent Danely Sound Labs system at Process. Tickets are still available at Resident Advisor!

And for any friends who are low on cash, please hit me up for a low income discount link for those who truly need it.

Just one more sleep until SubSensory presents: DJ Tool (Mala Junta, Berlin - PDX debut!) at Process PDX, and we’re highlighting the next of our supporting artists, Tracy Why!

Tracy Why is a veteran techno DJ, event organizer, designer, and all-around rad creative human being.

As a DJ, Tracy has always been one of my favorites. She has killer taste, deep crates, and she just knows how to rock a party. We first met in the mid-00s when she was spinning techno, hardstyle, and related sounds on vinyl at raves and clubs around the PNW. She joined SubSensory in 2008 as one of our first resident DJs, quickly becoming a favorite performer at our events while also designing some of our most iconic event art. She later founded C**k Block , a truly legendary PDX monthly instigated by female artists playing choice underground electronic dance music. More recently, she co-created The Function, a semi-regular event that explores the grey areas of techno music.

Tracy Why will be playing from 11:15 to 12:30, this Friday, May 1, at SubSensory presents: DJ Tool!

Tickets are still available at Resident Advisor!

We're 1 week out from the release of DJ Justin Neal's Keys on 94 EP, and Death Techno is premiering the EP's 2nd track, "You Give It"!!

"A raw, jackin' sound reminiscent of Chicago's finest. Chunky percussion is instantly infectious, combining with shimmering modular whines, tribal toms, and vocal snippets, making this an energetic, club-ready jam and summer festival heater."

Ahead of this Friday’s SubSensory event with DJ Tool at Process PDX, we’re excited to highlight our supporting artists, starting with our opener Pr0xima, who will be making her PDX DJ debut!

Pr0xima is a rising q***r techno artist, DJ, and live performer from Portland. Known for playing with listeners’ expectations in bold ways, her percussive and hypnotic sounds are mesmerizing, irresistible, and unconventional.

Pr0xima first caught our attention with her high-octane live sets on the PDX hardware circuit and a series of excellent demos in the Discord server. We've since teamed up with her to release two killer EPs on SubSensory since the Fall of 2025 – “Compulsory” and “Devolver” – and more recently she was handpicked by UK techno legend Perc to open for his January 2026 Perctrax showcase in Los Angeles. We're excited to see that energy come full circle with her PDX DJ debut at .pdx

She’ll be kicking things off this Friday, May 1, from 10-11:15pm. Come early and check it out!

Tickets are still available at Resident Advisor. Don’t sleep!
