I like that multiple people reached out this morning to get my take on the new Nas/DJ Premier album. I’ve only had the chance to listen to a few songs so far, but I like what I’ve heard. Feels like real Hip-Hop is back, and there’s still some heads out there who are hungry for it. Fun fact… it never left… it just went undergrund… it lives at places like Wicked Wednesdays. But you already knew that.
I remember when DJs were the tastemakers. Now everyone with a TikTok account thinks they’re an authority. But thats a subject for another day.
As a graff writer for nearly 4 decades, it’s always dope to see/hear someone like Nas speaking on graffiti culture in his music… one of the elements that the majority of rappers know NOTHING about.
This “Writers” track is nice! Cant wait to listen to the rest of the album in its entirety. 💯

RIP Ted Papas. I dont see too many people in my timeline speaking on it. Ted was probbly known by most for his 4 decades of service and ownership of the Greek Cusina restaurant/bar in downtown Portland (remember the big, purple octopus on the exterior of the building). We hosted our Wicked Wednsday events for a year or 2 at the Greek Cusina back around 2008. What a great era for the Greek Cusina, and for WW in general. Ted was always friendly, full of life and good energy. I always remember him sitting in the small back office upstairs counting the money. Lol.
Thanks for all the good memories Ted. Rest in peace. 🕯️

Ted Papas, age 77, fell asleep in the Lord on 12/5/25. Born in the village of Kakouri, near Tripolis, in the region of Arcadia, Greece, Ted immigrated to the United States at age 18, settling first in San Diego before attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas UNLV. He graduated

Here’s a glance at some of the good people at Wicked Wednesday last night. Something about the music just hit different last night. I heard some E-Rule, OC, P.U.T.S, Aceyalone, PRT, Vooodu, AZ, The Visionaries, and so many more underground slaps. I was feelin’ it! Wicked Wednesday is quite literally the only place in town where you’re able to go hear real DJs spinning all of this dope underground Hip-Hop, on vinyl. 💯 Shouts out to the DJS! 👏👏👏👏👏
That said, we’ll see you next Wednesday at the Cheerful Tortoise:

It’s that time of year again! Sat, Dec 27th is our annual winter coat drive at 503 Records in Beaverton, Oregon. Please dig your warm coats out of the closet & come place them in the donation barrel on Dec 27th.
I’ll be there spinning records, plus this event is inside a record store, so while you’re there, feel free stick around and do some record shopping. I will also have some exclusive DJ Wicked merchandise available for purchase as well! Swing by during the designated hours, and drop off a new (or gently used) winter coat & warm clothing accessories. Hope to see you there! ✌️

Ever wonder what soundcheck looks like before they open the doors and start the show? Here’s a quick behind the scenes look. Shouts out to all the sound engineers out there who always work diligently to make us sound good. 🙏 The sound technician is one of (if not the most important) jobs in the venue, and the importance of a quality soundcheck can mean the difference between a good show and a bad show. Much love to the sound engineers. I see you and you are appreciated. ✌️

It took over a year, but I finally got my hands on this Hip-Hop award! Shouts out to Jonathan Norman (aka Smurf Luchiano) for acknowledging my efforts in the Portland Hip-Hop community, when some of the other local awards shows have always attempted to exclude and minimize them. Not Smurf though. He’s always been a real one. Never an insecure hater. I don’t seek validity from cats who aren’t valid. Smurf is as valid as it gets, which is why this award means so much to me. Can’t wait to hang this plaque in the studio! Thanks for all you do Smurf. 🙏Official! 💯
