A big win against Laurinburg tonight!
Kriner's Grand Slam Powers Bogeys Past Highland Hooligans
The Sandhills Bogeys continued their dominant summer campaign Thursday night, rolling to a 21-3 victory over the Laurinburg Highland Hooligans at Bogeys Ballpark.
Stephen Kriner delivered the biggest swing of the night, launching a grand slam to center field in the fourth inning and finishing with four RBIs to lead a relentless Bogeys offense.
Sandhills wasted no time taking control, exploding for nine runs in the opening inning. Finley Spicer, Aiden Taylor, Tristan Hunt, Robbie Murphy, Peyton Starkey, and Chris Johnson all contributed RBI hits as the Bogeys sent a parade of batters to the plate and built an early 9-0 advantage.
The offensive barrage continued in the second inning as Sandhills plated seven more runs. JD Scarbrough highlighted the frame with an RBI double, while Hunt, Will Moffit, Johnson, Spicer, and Taylor each drove in runs to push the lead to 16-0.
Masin Hall added a sacrifice fly in the third inning before the Bogeys capped the scoring in the fourth. Sean Latham knocked in a run before Kriner cleared the bases with his grand slam, extending the lead to 21-0.
On the mound, Titus Torbett set the tone with four scoreless innings. Torbett scattered six hits while striking out four and walking none. Hunter Dakan, Gregory Simmons, and Lars Dabrowiak each followed with a scoreless inning in relief to preserve the win.
The Bogeys collected 16 hits on the night, led by Robbie Murphy, who went 3-for-3 from the leadoff spot. Chris Johnson and Aiden Taylor each added multiple hits, while the team also showed patience at the plate with nine walks.
Defensively, Sandhills was flawless, committing no errors and turning two double plays. Taylor led the way in the field with seven chances.
Laurinburg was led by Dennys Rodriguez Rivera, who drove in two runs and collected two hits. Frankie Himmelreich III also recorded a pair of hits for the Highland Hooligans.
With the victory, the Bogeys continue to build momentum heading into Friday night's matchup against the Cape Fear Ghost Crabs.
