Salem Art Works has held a special place in my heart for over 21 years. Since moving to Salem, NY, I’ve become much more heavily involved with SAW and am currently the Director of Programs. Over the past few years we’ve lost the majority of our funding and are struggling to survive.
If you’ve never heard of SAW, it’s a 119-acre sculpture park with a focus on artist residencies, workshops, classes, etc. With studios and shops for welding, ceramics, wood fired kilns, metal foundry, blacksmithing, stone carving, printmaking, glassblowing, etc, I don’t think there is another facility in this country that comes close to being able to offer all of the things in one place that we do.
