Huge thanks to Tyler Smith, film professor at Salt Lake Community College, for sitting down with us to share how is using virtual production to train the next generation of filmmakers. His insight into how this technology fits into the modern toolkit of documentary storytelling is really inspiring.

Also, a big thank you and shoutout to Director Aria Frazer and her crew for welcoming us behind the scenes of her upcoming documentary project, it was awesome to see SLCC’s virtual stage in action.

For over 30 years, we have witnessed the changes to the Film Festival, guided by the steady hand of Robert Redford. White Rabbit Productions has documented the development of the independent filmmaker and the actors who helped make their films. We have followed many of them as they rise from an unknown actor, to a major movie star and sometimes as they fall back to obscurity or fall victim to other misfortunes.

The primary challenge we have filming for our clients at the Sundance Film Festival, has always been getting the shots they need to tell their stories. Last week, we visited Redman Movies and Stories to film the new Roe LED wall installation, and last night we connected with students and faculty at Salt Lake Community College to discuss the tech’s potential and its future impact on Utah filmmaking.

Huge Thank You to Jake Dickey, Redman Movies and Stories, and Salt Lake Community College for inviting White Rabbit Productions to document and share their groundbreaking efforts to standardize virtual production tech with our local schools and production houses. Jake’s leadership and their efforts are helping to transform Utah into a hub of virtual production expertise.
