UPDATE: A mother of nine has died in Moroni after a car hit her while she was out on a walk.

After being transferred to the hospital, Rebeca Hafen, 34, died from her injuries.

Hafen was pregnant with her ninth child at the time and after a brief NICU stay the baby also passed away

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox has declared 'Charlie Kirk Day' on the anniversary of the activist's death.

"One year ago today, Charlie Kirk came to Utah to take part in a fundamental American tradition: speak openly, debate ideas, and persuade others," the governor wrote on social media. "Today, we honor Charlie's memory by choosing a politics worthy of our country, one where we stand firmly for what we believe and reject violence."

Benjamin Christopher Orlob, 44, faces an aggravated assault charge for allegedly ordering his dog to attack another man, who ended up with injuries to his arms, face and head.

When Ogden Police arrived on the scene late Saturday night, witnesses said they had found the dog attacking the victim, according to charging papers. Orlob told authorities that the dog was his and that the animal had escaped from its leash.

The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating Utah Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson after she refused to turn sensitive voter information over to the federal government, according to a letter sent by the agency's Civil Rights Division.

"It would be nice if the good folks at the DOJ would focus on actual problems instead of baselessly harassing election officials," said Henderson.

Turning Point USA is hosting a memorial service at Utah Valley University to remember its founder, Charlie Kirk, after he was murdered on campus a year ago.

Prominent political commentors and TPUSA representatives like Glenn Beck and Andrew Sypher are expected to speak at the event.

Dr. Thomas Higgins, professor and chief of orthopedic trauma surgery, was in a skiing accident when trauma surgeons at the University of Utah Hospital saved his life.

"The trauma system saved my life, from the person who intubated me in an aircraft to everyone who took care of me here in the ICU," Higgins said.

Some homeowners along Canyon Road in Logan worry that the city may be flexing its right-of-way beyond what's been established as part of an ongoing project along the road to upgrade a pipeline and improve and expand a city trail.

Previously, people in the neighborhood had lost their battle with the city to preserve more than a dozen 100-plus year-old ash trees to make way for the pipeline improvements.

Now, the city's trail upgrades could cut through the yards of a few homeowners.
