Davis County Commissioner John Crofts is accused of political favoritism after claims made about hostile work environments, LGBTQ discrimination, and other misconduct by 26 current and former Davis County employees.

Crofts called the five-month investigation a "frivolous and costly investigation that resulted in finding zero criminal activity."

Police showed up in significant numbers Thursday to monitor and enforce laws as hundreds of cyclists took part in the latest “999 Ride.”

Cyclists said the ride earned its name in recent years by beginning regularly on Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. at 9th and 9th, and it can feature up to thousands of riders.

“We’ve had a lot of issues with traffic being blocked, intersections being blocked, people riding the wrong way in traffic, cars being surrounded,” Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Greg Wilking said during an interview ahead of the enforcement effort.

More than half of Utah’s law enforcement agencies have failed to comply with a state law requiring them to report sexual assault case data, marking the second consecutive year a majority of agencies have missed the deadline.

According to the Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice, only 55 of 119 agencies with qualifying cases have submitted their data as of June 4 — a compliance rate of about 46%.

“That’s disappointing,” said Rep. Angela Romero, D-Salt Lake City, who sponsored the legislation. “There’s a reason why we want this report to happen, because as we know, sexual assault is the only violent crime that’s higher than the national average here in Utah.”

A Pennsylvania couple has been charged for keeping hundreds of “street rats” in their home. Police say some are reportedly as big as small cats.

Officers were called to the home on April 15th, 2026, because of a foul odor coming from the property. Once police arrived, they immediately noticed the odor and a large number of flies around the home.

Police said the women living in the home told investigators, “That she had been personally caring for the rats.”
