We at Powell Wedding + Events are super excited to showcase the newest member of the DJ Team, Chris Spadafora! Over the last year he has rocked multiple weddings and has become an integral part of the Powell family. He absolutely loves bringing the party to any event is he is a part of. Some fun facts about Chris: his favorite musical artist is James Blake, he loves sushi, and he lived in Japan and is fluent in Japanese.

Our Story

Servicing the DJ and MC needs of destination weddings and the Wasatch Front since 2004, Squawkbox Sound & DJ Services has now become Powell Weddings & Events: where we treat you like family. We’ve added a professional photographer in Morgan Leigh, and silent disco headsets with Mobile Party Starters. Our business started when Russ had a local touring indie rock band. One of his friends, Joe Tullius, asked to borrow the rockin’ sound system for his sister Tiffany’s backyard wedding. Russ wasn’t inclined to lend his expensive equipment out without supervision, so he offered to help instead. Michelle knowing Russ wasn’t fully comfortable with his knowledge of ‘90s country offered to come as well. At that wedding, two different couples came up and said they loved the music and atmosphere created and would like to hire us for their receptions. From there it snowballed into a full-service mobile DJ company that focused mainly on weddings and was known for their fun and professional demeanor. Fast forward to today where the equipment has changed, the level of services has been increased, the number of DJs has multiplied, and the love of special events has grown stronger; the attention to detail remains the same. Because, we treat you like family.
