Kent is continuing to grow as a hub for culture, community, and small business.
John Boyd (Kent City Councilmember), alongside Christina Arokiasamy (Cultural Ambassador, Founder, and Chef of Cultural Generation) and Dr. Alice Hinga (Founder of Tumaini Children’s Charity), recently visited the newly opened Kent International Mall and Event Center to connect with management, tenants, and community members.
The center features 25 retail stores, a restaurant, office spaces, and a full event venue—creating a vibrant destination for local residents and entrepreneurs.
Councilmember Boyd praised the space as a powerful example of how intentional development can bring diverse communities together. Christina Arokiasamy highlighted the work of Cultural Generation in uplifting culture through food and storytelling, emphasizing the importance of celebrating diverse culinary traditions.
Owner Abdirashid Hersi, who led the tour, shared that the vision behind the center was to build a thriving hub for immigrant-owned businesses and community organizations.
This new space stands as a testament to Kent’s diversity, resilience, and the power of community-driven development. The community is encouraged to visit the mall and experience it firsthand at 25814 102nd Pl SE, Kent, WA 98030. City of Kent Government King County, Washington - Government
