A story on the Democrats’ controversial export fuel tax. From MyNorthwest: “Is Washington on the brink of a trade war with Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska? All three states have expressed deep concern over a plan from Washington Democrats to impose a six cent per gallon tax on fuel refined along Puget Sound but shipped out of state.”
House Republicans have offered real solutions for public safety. From MyNorthwest: A newer bill, HB 1788, from long-time cop and Republican state Rep. Eric Robertson would have lowered the threshold to engage in pursuits to reasonable suspicion, and expand when officers are able to use physical force, among other “fixes.” That bill died when it failed to get a floor vote in the House before a key deadline, much to the frustration of Republican leaders.
The Democrats’ transportation plan will come at a great cost to Washingtonians. From MyNorthwest: Others within Oregon’s state leadership expressed the possibility of taking action against Washington should the fuel tax be implemented. “I suppose if enacted, Oregon will look at ways to retaliate,” Oregon state Sen. Lee Beyer — who chairs the state’s transportation committee — told Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB).

· Agricultural voices clearly stated the importance of local food resources and that they are concerned about losing agricultural lands from production.
· Fishing voices were also clear on the importance of local food resources and they shared empathy with agricultural producers and interest in working together toward solutions.
