Jersey City’s San Patricios looks to tell the story of Saint Patrick’s Battalion, a group of Irish-American soldiers who defected from the U.S. Army to fight for Mexico in the 1840s.

For Jack McGarry, the legendary Belfast-born bartender who opened NYC’s iconic The Dead Rabbit in 2013, is as much a lesson in revolutionary history as it is NJ’s best new bar.

The Irish-Mexican brotherhood comes alive through inventive cocktails, creamy pints of Guinness, frozen margaritas and pub plates that blend Irish and Mexican flavors—from chicken tinga pot pies and sausage rolls, to pork pibil and chicken curry tacos.

Every detail is intentional, sharing a lost chapter of history with New Jersey through expertly crafted food and drink.
