The Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers came to Pine Bluffs to battle this afternoon and it showed through all four quarters. Maybe not on the final scoreboard – the Hornets' deep and upperclassman-stacked roster scored the final win, 65-15. But each of the Doggers out on the field today showed heart and true grit playing against sizable odds. Big injuries knocked out three of LFL's seniors and key players on both offense and defense early, stretching the Doggers' already thin roster to the limit. Coaching staff had no choice but to sub in athletes with little or no experience playing certain roles.

These players stepped up, though, and the Hornets were far from invincible against LFL. Junior Nathan Lira ran in an 85-yard kickoff return into the end zone in the first quarter and sophomore Lincoln Speckner chewed up 54 yards to reach the goal line in the third quarter. Senior Anthony Arnusch kicked in an extra point in the first quarter and Speckner completed a pass to sophomore Dutch Ogburn in the third quarter for the PAT-2.

The LFL defense came out and got in solid stops, including several tackles for no gain. Strong pass coverage by the Doggers played havoc on Pine Bluffs' passing game.

While the season ended early for the Doggers, LFL deserves to be proud of advancing to the semifinals after an incredible win against Big Piney the previous week in the quarterfinals. LFL deserved to be there today and the team succeeded in its goals stated early in the season to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Exceptional football this year, Doggers! Hold your heads high.

The Lingle-Fort Laramie Lady Doggers opened the 1A state tournament playing Little Snake River. Coming into a late evening game to play the No. 1 seeded team is no easy task. While LFL took the first set to find their footing, the Lady Doggers battled their opponent point-for-point for most of the second set and the first half of the third. The final score favored LSR, 3-0 (25-9, 25-16 and 25-14) but the Lady Doggers fought down to the final point.
