Exciting news from TulsaKids as we head in to the New Year!

TulsaKids Magazine, a trusted resource for families across the Tulsa area for more than 35 years, is pleased to announce new leadership. Amanda Murphy has been named Owner and Publisher, and Natalie Mikles has been appointed Editor.

Chuck Foshee, TulsaKids' previous owner/publisher, stepped down in December 2025 after selling the publication to Murphy. Previous editor Betty Casey plans to continue writing and painting as well as spending more time with family.

“Natalie and I truly love the publication and are excited to build on the legacy left by Chuck Foshee and Betty Casey, while adding new and exciting elements,” explains Murphy. “There truly isn’t a better time to be part of TulsaKids.”

Here’s a fun New Year’s Eve activity for families: Try the One Brave Thing challenge!

Encourage your kids to think about one (just one!) brave thing they can do in January. Then, help them decorate a door hanger to place in their room as a reminder of their goal.

The idea is to build confidence - and to place an emphasis on “trying, not perfecting.”

Read more in ’ column in our January issue.

And if you try the challenge, please email a photo to [email protected]. We’d love to share some in our February issue!

Diane Morrow Kondos prefers to set goals rather than make resolutions for the New Year — because goals tend to be more action-oriented.

This year, her primary goal is "to be a better grandparent;" action steps include volunteering at her grandkids' school once a month, intentionally creating memories, etc. https://www.tulsakids.com/grandparenting-goals-for-the-new-year/
