Bon Homme County Fatal Crash

What: Two-vehicle fatal crash
Where: S.D. Highway 37 and S.D. Highway 52, 8 miles south of Tyndall, South Dakota
When: 8:00 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2026

Driver 1: 32-year-old male from Colman, South Dakota, minor injuries
Vehicle 1: 2020 Ford F-250

Seat Belt Used: No

Driver 2: 49-year-old male from Omaha, Nebraska, fatal injuries
Vehicle 2: 2025 Honda Pilot

Seat Belt Used: Yes

Passenger 1: 47-year-old female from Omaha, Nebraska, life-threatening injuries

Seat Belt Used: Yes

Bon Homme County, S.D.- An Omaha, Nebraska man died Monday in a two-vehicle crash near Tyndall, South Dakota.

Names of the those involved have not been released pending notification of family members.


Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2020 Ford F-250 was traveling northbound on S.D. Highway 37 near the intersection of S.D. Highway 52. At the same time, the driver of a 2025 Honda Pilot stopped in the westbound lane on S.D. Highway 52 before proceeding into the intersection. The Honda was struck by the Ford. All three people were taken to a Tyndall hospital. The driver of the Honda died from his injuries. His passenger was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital via Life Flight with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing. All information released is preliminary.

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
