Many of you know that we often take in special-needs poultry. Most of them go on to live happy, full lives, but sometimes, despite everyone’s best efforts, the outcome isn’t what we hope for.
A few weeks ago, we shared that we had taken in several special-needs goslings—three of them, actually! One of those goslings was the sweetest little soul named Axol (short for Axolotl).
When Axol came to us, he couldn’t walk and was suffering from a severe vitamin deficiency. We tried everything we could to help him, including getting him his own wheelchair—which, for the record, he absolutely hated! Despite all the care, treatments, and love, Axol suffered a seizure this evening and passed away.
Our hearts are broken here at Tiny Terror Homestead. While we wish his story could have had a different ending, we take comfort in knowing that he spent his final weeks surrounded by love, comfort, and people who adored him. He was never unwanted, never overlooked, and never unloved.
Axol left a special mark on all of us, especially our daughter, and he will always have a place in our hearts. We like to think that maybe his little heart simply couldn’t contain all the love he was given.
Fly high, sweet Axol. You were loved more than you’ll ever know. ❤️🪿🌈
