Richard DelFino Jr., head of the Johnston Senior Center, said he was aware that it was common to throw unfinished meals away rather than let people take leftovers home at senior meal sites. After months of phone calls and emails from DelFino and his staff, the state Office of Healthy Aging confirmed last week that there is no law or regulation prohibiting seniors from taking leftovers home.
