Simply put, Integrative Bodywork looks at the whole person—not just the physical spot that hurts. One of my top 5 sayings that my Washington State peeps often heard me say was: the body is all connected—although you perceive your pain, or stress, or anxious feelings there, that spot may not be the root cause.
The foundation of my work is Dynamic Body Balancing (DBB) and we use craniosacral work to relieve areas of tension in the fascial lines throughout the body. I may incorporate familiar massage techniques for soft tissue issues, assisted stretching, cupping, or breathwork depending on what your body needs that day.
It can be helpful for things like:
• Muscle tension and tightness
• Stress and feeling “stuck”
• Injuries or recovery
• Limited mobility
• Chronic aches and everyday soreness
• People who simply want to reconnect with their body
And yes—it’s gentle. For many people, there is time and place to “push through” pain or tolerate deeper pressure; however, I think the people who prefer the deeper massage style may also be pleasantly surprised with the results of this type of bodywork. I’ve received bodywork since I was 16—after an auto accident—and have traversed the spectrum of pressures and techniques that I could tolerate in any given appointment, in different seasons of life.
No two sessions look exactly the same. That’s kind of the point—we want your body to release what it is holding.
PS: You stay clothed throughout the session too (comfortable, stretchy clothing or shorts & a tank are best), and we work together to figure out what your body needs.
Come as you are. We’ll start there!
I have openings Monday, Tuesday, & Friday next week.
