π¨ NORTHERNCHASERS SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE β FRIDAY, JUNE 19 π¨
All eyes are on portions of central, eastern, and southeastern Minnesota today as scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening.
π©οΈ Main Threats: β’ Damaging wind gusts up to 60+ mph β’ Large hail up to quarter size or larger β’ Frequent lightning β’ Heavy downpours and localized flooding
π’ A broad Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) covers much of Minnesota, with the greatest concern stretching from the Alexandria area through the Twin Cities and into southeastern Minnesota.
πͺοΈ Tornado Threat: The tornado risk remains very low today, but an isolated brief spin-up cannot be completely ruled out with any stronger storm that develops.
β° Timing: β’ Storms begin developing: Late Afternoon β’ Greatest severe threat: 4 PM β 10 PM β’ Activity gradually weakens overnight
π If you're in the risk area, keep an eye on the sky and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings. Even a Marginal Risk can produce isolated severe storms.
β‘ I will be monitoring conditions throughout the day and will provide updates as storms develop.
