⚠️🌪️ SEVERE WEATHER ALERT — TUESDAY, MAY 26 🌪️⚠️
Northern Minnesota and parts of central/southern Minnesota are under a Marginal Risk (Level 1/5) for severe weather today. While this isn’t a massive outbreak setup, a few storms could still pack a punch later this afternoon into tonight.

Main threats include:
💨 Damaging wind gusts
🧊 Large hail
⚡ Frequent lightning

The better chance for stronger storms looks to be across western into southern Minnesota where instability will be a little more favorable. Not everybody sees severe weather today… but the atmosphere only needs one storm to decide it wants attention. Mother Nature loves plot twists. 😅

Sunday into Monday could bring a multi-day severe weather setup across parts of Minnesota and Iowa. The atmosphere is loading the cannon and honestly… it looks ready to fire. 🌪️
🌩️ SUNDAY – MAY 17
Southern and western Minnesota are under a Slight to Enhanced Risk for severe storms, with the greatest threat focused from around Worthington through western/southern Minnesota.
Main Threats:
🌪️ Tornadoes possible
🧊 Large hail up to baseball size possible
💨 Damaging winds 60-75+ MPH
⚡ Frequent lightning & torrential rain
The tornado risk appears highest across far southwest Minnesota, where conditions may support a few stronger rotating storms if storms can stay isolated before clustering up. Hail parameters are also looking pretty nasty down there. Nature really said “what if we threw rocks today?”
Areas including: 📍 Worthington
📍 Marshall
📍 Albert Lea
📍 Mankato
📍 Alexandria
could all see strong to severe storms late afternoon into evening.
🌪️ MONDAY – MAY 18
Monday is the day that really has our attention.
A broader Enhanced Risk stretches across much of Iowa with increasing concern for: 🌪️ Strong tornadoes
🧊 Very large hail
💨 Widespread damaging winds
Forecast guidance shows a volatile environment developing during the afternoon and evening hours. If storms can remain discrete early on, supercells capable of significant severe weather may rapidly develop.
Highest Concern Areas:
📍 Des Moines
📍 Ames
📍 Fort Dodge
📍 Cedar Rapids
📍 Atlantic
📍 Waterloo
The wind outlook is especially aggressive Monday, signaling potential for widespread severe wind damage alongside tornado potential.

The atmosphere is loading the cannon again across parts of the Midwest heading into the upcoming weather events. Multiple rounds of storms are possible, with the potential for:
• Large hail
• Damaging winds
• Frequent lightning
• Heavy rainfall
• Isolated tornadoes possible in stronger storms
Areas across portions of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, and surrounding regions should stay weather aware as conditions continue to evolve.
Some storms could rapidly intensify during the late afternoon and evening hours, especially where instability and wind shear overlap. If trends continue, a few storms may become supercellular before evolving into larger storm clusters overnight.

Found a sweet little cloud rotating in the sky this morning! Thought it would something yall found interesting! That’s usually caused by wind shear + rising air doing a little atmospheric beyblade routine.

A significant severe weather setup is expected to unfold today across portions of the Mid-Mississippi Valley into the Midwest. Conditions are favorable for intense supercells and multiple rounds of severe storms, especially this afternoon into tonight.
🔴 HIGH RISK / MODERATE RISK AREAS:
Parts of Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, and surrounding states are in the greatest threat zone.
⚠️ MAIN THREATS:
🌪️ Strong to violent tornadoes possible
💨 Widespread damaging winds 70-90+ mph
🧊 Very large hail 2"+ possible
🌧️ Heavy rain / localized flooding
⏰ TIMING:
Storms may begin developing this afternoon, with the most dangerous period likely through the evening and overnight hours.
📍 If you live in the risk area:
• Have multiple ways to receive warnings
• Know your safe shelter location now
• Do not wait until a warning is issued
