🚨 NORTHERNCHASERS SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE – FRIDAY, JUNE 19 🚨
All eyes are on portions of central, eastern, and southeastern Minnesota today as scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening.
🌩️ Main Threats: • Damaging wind gusts up to 60+ mph • Large hail up to quarter size or larger • Frequent lightning • Heavy downpours and localized flooding
🟢 A broad Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) covers much of Minnesota, with the greatest concern stretching from the Alexandria area through the Twin Cities and into southeastern Minnesota.
🌪️ Tornado Threat: The tornado risk remains very low today, but an isolated brief spin-up cannot be completely ruled out with any stronger storm that develops.
⏰ Timing: • Storms begin developing: Late Afternoon • Greatest severe threat: 4 PM – 10 PM • Activity gradually weakens overnight
📍 If you're in the risk area, keep an eye on the sky and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings. Even a Marginal Risk can produce isolated severe storms.
