David “Stringbean” Akeman was born in Annville, KY this week in 1915. 🪕

He was a popular hillbilly entertainer on the Grand Ole Opry and HEE HAW, delighting audiences with his banjo-playing and country charm. He was murdered, along with his wife Estelle, at their home in Ridgetop, TN in 1973.
