Two foreign nationals, Thabani Sibanda (32) and Nkululeko Ncube (49), were sentenced by the Giyani Commercial Crime Court to five years’ imprisonment for possession of illicit Re*****on Gold ci******es worth R180 000.
Police received intelligence on 01 December 2025 about two Toyota Corollas transporting the ci******es from Musina to Tzaneen. After a chase, both vehicles were intercepted and found fully loaded with illicit ci******es.
During investigation, it was discovered that Ncube was also in the country illegally. He received an additional one-year sentence or a R10 000 fine for violating the Immigration Act.
Both vehicles were forfeited to the State, and the accused were declared unfit to possess fi****ms.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, praised the swift and thorough investigation that led to the quick finalisation of the case.
