Father Denied Chance to Help Bury His Deceased Baby

The father of an eleven-month-old baby who died tragically has told Alex FM that he wanted to assist with the burial of his child but was allegedly denied the opportunity to do so.

This comes after Nomsitho Mthwa (43), the baby’s mother, publicly appealed for donations from the community to help cover funeral costs.

The baby, identified as Indanele, reportedly passed away after allegedly consuming Aliphirimi, a poisonous substance commonly used to kill rats. The incident is said to have occurred at 6th Avenue in Alexandra.

Speaking to Mbyana ya Mahungu, Mthwa explained that the family is struggling financially and needs about R5,600 to cover funeral expenses.

However, following the release of a video about the appeal, confusion has emerged. The baby’s father claims he was willing to contribute and assist with burying his child, yet his help was allegedly rejected.

At this stage, it remains unclear why the baby’s mother would refuse assistance from the child’s father while appealing for support from the wider community.

The situation has raised questions and emotions among community members, with many asking: why should a father be denied the chance to help bury his own child?

When Wandile Msimang saw the story we shared about a young hero who damaged his phone while saving a child, his heart was moved. Without hesitation, he made a promise — he would buy the young hero an iPhone.

Behind the scenes, Wandile had been engaging philanthropist Godfrey Mashamba, united by one simple belief: bravery and selflessness should never go unnoticed.

South Africa needs more people like Wandile.

Thando’s story touched the hearts of many across the country. When he saw a young boy struggling and drowning in the Jukskei River, Thando did not stop to think of himself. He risked his own life, jumped into the dangerous waters, and saved the child. His phone was destroyed in the process — but a life was spared.

In a world where indifference is common, Thando chose courage. And in a moment of pure humanity, Wandile chose to respond.

ICYMI | ATA Member Shot Dead Near His Residence in Alexandra

Alexandra Taxi Association member Mbekezeli Khanyile (35), a resident of Nobuhle Hostel in Alexandra, was brutally shot and killed a short distance from his home.

The incident occurred today.

According to family members who spoke to Mbyana ya Mahungu, Khanyile was a truck driver and also a taxi owner with a fleet of five taxis.

It is alleged that the suspects approached and spoke to him before opening fire at close range. He was struck by three bullets and died at the scene.

The Alexandra SAPS Station Commander, Colonel Vusimuzi Ngubane, confirmed the incident and provided further details.

A man has been shot and killed in Alexandra this afternoon.
The shooting took place along 8th Avenue, between Roosevelt and Rooth.

According to information from the scene, the victim was inside a vehicle when he was shot and was declared dead on the scene.

The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage, and no arrests have been Police have cordoned off the area as investigations continue.
