🚨 “SARS Offices FULL in KwaMaqoma — No More People Allowed In” 🚨

KwaMaqoma – The chaotic second day of the South African Revenue Service (SARS) visit has now reached breaking point.

Officials confirmed that while they have commenced serving people, the number of clients already inside is full, and they may not even manage to complete the backlog by the end of the day. As a result, the doors have been closed to anyone else hoping to receive assistance.

Tomorrow, SARS will be stationed at Tower Hospital in KwaMaqoma — but crucially, only health employees will be serviced, not the general public.

This means that those who were not assisted today will either need to book an appointment directly with SARS or wait for the next announced date for services in KwaMaqoma.

The situation has left many residents frustrated, with concerns mounting that the poor coordination of this outreach could have lasting effects on community trust.

🚨 Day 2 of SARS Visit to KwaMaqoma Marked by Confusion and Chaos

KwaMaqoma – The second day of the South African Revenue Service (SARS) visit to KwaMaqoma has been overshadowed by frustration, confusion, and chaotic scenes.

By 09h25 this morning, scores of residents were still struggling to find a way to be seated and serviced. Despite repeated attempts to control the crowds, the existence of two separate lists continues to cause disarray and uncertainty among attendees.

People have been seen moving from chair to chair, following conflicting instructions from different officials as efforts to salvage the situation spiral into further disorder.

SARS officials, visibly frustrated, have even threatened to leave if the chaos continues, noting that although they have traveled across the Eastern Cape, they have never encountered a situation like this. Addressing the crowd, they added that if it was not for the confusion, they would have already managed to assist 20 people by now.

Municipal security officials were deployed to assist in managing the situation, but tensions remained high. Even prominent figures, including the former Executive Mayor of Amathole District Municipality, Mam’ Nxawe, as well as on-duty emergency services personnel—nurses, firefighters, and police—were caught up in the turmoil.

Residents have voiced frustration at the lack of clarity and coordination, raising concerns that the chaos could undermine the effectiveness of SARS’s outreach program in the town.
