I stood in the Karoo once at 3am. No wind. No movement. Just a silence so complete.
That's not something you can research. You can't find it in a reference track or a field recording library. It lives in you, or it doesn't.
I've been thinking about African wildlife documentaries.
I'm a South African composer. This continent is not my research. It's my memory and my DNA.
The fynbos after rain. A highveld storm building on the horizon. The specific quality of light and sound in the Drakensberg at dusk. These aren't locations to me. They're lived experience sitting in my hands when I write.
Africa has been visually documented with extraordinary skill and love. The music telling those stories deserves the same authenticity.
Lets be a part of that.
