Why does AIR rely on DAB+?
Because we believe in the radio standard of the future.
DAB+ means:
• exceptionally clear sound
• no noise or hissing
• modern digital broadcasting
• more energy-efficient transmission
• greater programme diversity
Just as the transition from medium wave to FM once marked a major step forward, DAB+ is now transforming the way people listen to radio in a lasting way. Many listeners already own DAB+ devices — often without even knowing it: Across the EU, including Austria, DAB+ has been legally mandatory in all newly registered vehicles with built-in radios since December 21, 2020. This means many cars are already capable of receiving excellent digital sound, while users still unknowingly listen via traditional FM radio with lower audio quality.
AIR is currently available digitally via ANTENNE DIGITAL in the Greater Vienna area, southern Lower Austria and northern Burgenland, as well as worldwide via our online stream.
