With the extended and never-ending lockdowns in Victoria, I have had to pivot my business. This means having to shut down the wedding videography business. I am now completely focused on two main areas.

1. 3D computer animation for TV, Facebook and YouTube advertising.

2. Videography for online training. This includes setting up clients with a professional video recording environment for creating the best possible video content.

I noticed that Facebook now allow you to have a video as the cover image. I understand that this is new functionality and there seems to be some confusion about whether it works well on all devices. I have created one which seems to fit the requirements of Facebook for this site. Please leave a comment if you find that it doesn't work on any of your devices.

In any case, if it does work, you can see that there is a possiblity to further promote your business in a compact space by adding a video in this location. Contact me if you feel that this can help your business and see if this is something that I can help you to create.

The emphasis here was on attempting to match the CG elements into live footage in such a way that it would be next to impossible to tell, even if viewing frame-by-frame. SEO is a term that most people would have heard of by now. If you haven't then you probably don't have a website. Unfortunately, many people do not understand why my business will never be on the first page. The company is a multi-media company with proficiency in both digital videography and 3D computer animation. Google lowers the ranking of websites if they have less focussed subject matter on their website than what the search criteria dictates. For example if you need a wedding video and look up "videographers for weddings", you will find that my business is well down the list, purely because I do a lot of computer animation for TV commercials. Anyway, contrary to Google rankings, you should look up my website and see that I have a lot to offer. In particular, high quality videography work AND 3D computer animation. The trend now is to target Youtube and Facebook customers rather then TV watchers for promoting products and services. To that end, my company is more than capable of putting together an "advertisement" that is entertaining to watch on Facebook/Youtube at a very reasonable price! Remember TV advertising is very expensive compared to Facebook and Youtube.

In Melbourne it can get pretty cold in winter. Nevertheless, there are plenty of fun ways to get married in the colder weather. One of the benefits to doing it at this time is that it is off-season for weddings.

Lot's of people ask me why I have no "sample" of wedding videos on the net. In short, all of my wedding videos contain commercial music. The music distribution licence that I have covers me for the production of a limited number of DVD for personal viewing. It explicity prohibits putting those same videos on the internet for public viewing.
To-date, I have just handed potential clients a DVD with samples to look at, however, I had to work out a better way to get noticed. Last week I created 2 special short showreels of past weddings, which do not use commercial music, but do show why my wedding videography is unique.

Why all this focus on "tricking"? I am extremely proud and excited to be involved in this amazing activity that shows that anything is possible if you are passionate about what you do. Alex is my son and I am extremely proud of his passion. What makes it even better, is that I can use my passion (videography) to share his passion with the world. Things just couldn't be better!

I have a great assignment at the moment. I'm filming my son and a small team of "trickers" doing some high intensity action in various locations around the state. Tricking is a sport that involves extreme feats of human gymnastics without props. I will be putting together some promotional videos for him and his team on YouTube soon - so stay tuned. In the meantime, look at this frame grab taken from last night's gym session. If you look carefully you will see Alex suspended in mid air as he executes his 3rd spin 6 foot in the air. His reflection is also visible on the far wall.

I received delivery of my a new video camera last week. It's an amazing piece of technology, designed for the run-and-gun videographer in mind, just what I need for weddings. At weddings, you only get one chance to get it right, so I decided to take this camera on a wild ride for the last week. I've visited forests, beaches and wildlife parks taking footage in extreme weather conditions. What a lot of fun! What an amazing camera! I'll be posting some of the footage on YouTube. Stay tuned. I have been asked by some of my clients, where the "flying samurai" character came from. When I started out doing computer animation, I needed to come up with a "character" that would eventually become a unique respresentation of me. Before I started animation work, I spent over 8 years doing martial arts, so I thought that it would be pretty cool bringing my martial arts into my animation.
The philosophies learned in my martial arts training are aimed at bringing the best out in yourself and inspiring others to do the same. The principles learned are just as relevent in business as they are when practicing that art. They are actually embodied in the "way of the warrior" used by the ancient Japanse samurai.
Hence I felt that this character would be a great symbol of the samurai code and fun at the same time.
It was so well received by my clients that I felt that it would be just as relevent to use it for my current videography business. To make it timeless, he is holding a vintage movie camera. Rest assured, that the exact opposite is true, I use only the best modern video and audio equipment. Considering the benefits of size reduction and quality improvement, I am glad I don't have to lug one of those old cameras around at weddings!

Its finally happened, after over 9 years of working as Flying Samurai Animations, we have officially changed name to Flying Samurai Productions. It was felt that this would better represent the nature of the business, now that we have added videography into business. This is a very exciting time for the company.
