Police have alleged a Melbourne doctor accused of covertly filming hospital staffs in restricted bathrooms had over 10,000 pieces of images and videos relating to at least 460 victims.

The accused, Ryan Cho, has been denied bail after being charged with several offences and will return to court in November.

Dr Cho is contesting the charges against him.

This morning, we opened the doors to the public as part of Melbourne's Open House, where people can come and explore areas that are typically closed.

The Victorian Greens' housing spokesperson, Gabrielle de Vietri, has criticised the state government's plan to purchase private dwellings to relocate displaced public housing residents.

The government's housing agency Homes Victoria is seeking to relocate residents following its controversial plan to demolish 44 public housing towers across Melbourne.

It put up a job advertisement for a homebuyer, who the agency says it will work with to identify properties that are suitable for leasing or purchase, "including bulk and off-the-plan purchases".

Homes Victoria regularly purchases and leases properties to add to the state's social housing stock, but critics say it could add more pressure to the strained property market.

"The government has said that it's simply too expensive for them to refurbish these public housing towers," Ms de Vietri said.

"Yet what they are engaging in is an incredibly expensive and inefficient process of buying up and head-leasing private homes to move public housing residents into."

The Victorian government's housing agency is hiring an internal homebuyer as it works to find new homes for thousands of residents displaced by its controversial plan to redevelop Melbourne's public housing towers.

The state-run agency put up a job advertisement for a homebuyer, whose duties will include acquiring properties as part of its "high priority Tower Relocations program".
