FRESH CUT, FRESH HOPE: MAX SMILES AFTER COMMUNITY KINDNESS 🫶🙏🏻

The response from our community has been nothing short of incredible. Since sharing Max Allen’s story, we’ve passed on more than 50 emails to his family with offers of help, along with hundreds of heartfelt messages on social media.

And today — another beautiful act of kindness.

Good Samaritan Nicky McDermott stopped by to give Max a much-needed haircut, and it’s fair to say it’s lifted his spirits in a big way.

Max still has a long road ahead, but moments like these remind us what community is all about. Thank you to everyone who has rallied behind him so far … every message, every visit, every act of kindness makes a difference. 💫

We really do cover it all here at Mosman Collective.

Tonight, a pair of Indian Ringnecks are hoping to be reunited with their owner.

Over the weekend, the dynamic duo were found locally and brought into .

“They are both in great condition after getting checked over by the vets after their escape, and now we are trying to find their owners,” the team say.

If you are missing either one or both Ringnecks (unsure if coincidence that two arrived a day apart, or if they are from the same family), please contact Mosman Veterinary Hospital on 9960 2856.

MOSMAN, LET’S RALLY FOR MAX 🙏🏻🫶

Morning everyone, this one hits close to home.

Just 36 hours after landing in Sydney, 23-year-old American student Max Allen took a shallow dive into the water at Balmoral - and his life changed forever.

The university graduate, in Australia on a dream holiday, fractured his C5 vertebra at 9am on September 6, leaving him unconscious and paralysed from the chest down.

Locals and first responders carried Max from the sand, fighting to keep him alive.

A six hour operation followed, and since then, Max has been at Royal North Shore, where he’s just been moved from Intensive Care into the Acute Trauma Centre.

His parents have flown across the world, and his Aussie mates have been by his side — but the road ahead is long and unimaginably hard.

“Yesterday, girls from Queenswood were handing out bouquets of flowers to random ladies walking along the Balmoral promenade.

“It was a beautiful gesture to celebrate their 100th anniversary.

“I was a grateful and happy recipient 💕 …. paired with an absolutely delicious cannoli & coffee from the newly opened “Prego” cafe.“
