CONGRATULATIONS JULIA! THREE SPARROWS HAS GOOD NEWS! 📚🔔🗞️🫶

Mosman’s only independent bookstore has been named on the shortlist for the Australian Booksellers Association (ABA) Bookseller of the Year Award – one of just four finalists to make the national cut.

at 836 Military Rd is up against Ink Bookshop (Mansfield, Victoria), Booktique (Albury, NSW) and Avid Reader (West End, Queensland).

Owner Julia Cahill said the recognition caught her completely off guard.

“Being named on the shortlist was completely unexpected, we feel like the little bookshop that could,” she told Mosman Collective.

The winner will be announced at the ABA Conference Gala Dinner in Canberra on Sunday, 14 June.

LIME BIKES ARE ROLLING IN TO MOSMAN 🗞️😳

Love ‘em or loathe them - Lime Bikes are coming to a local beach near you.

Council agenda papers, published ahead of next Tuesday’s meeting, concede they have almost no power to prevent their arrival this summer.

Lime – which already operates in North Sydney and Manly – has proposed a “soft launch” into Mosman: removing the geofencing restrictions currently in place along Spofforth Street, allowing bikes to drift across from the existing fleet.

“In effect, no bikes would be placed directly within Mosman; rather, their presence would occur through a gradual influx from the adjoining North Sydney LGA,” the report states.

WOOLWORTHS’ $191M NEUTRAL BAY TOWER HAS BEEN APPROVED 🗞️💥😳

Our newsletter subscribers have been following this one for weeks – now the full story is live.

The NSW government has given the green light to a 12-storey mixed-use development on Rangers Rd, replacing the existing Woolies with 97 apartments, a medical centre, retail tenancies and a basement supermarket.

Consent was issued three days after the Housing Delivery Authority gazetted the rezoning that made it possible.

Ten of the 97 apartments are designated affordable housing. For 15 years. The minimum required was 5%. The developer, Fabcot, offered 5.2%.

30 of 46 public submissions objected. North Sydney Council opposed it at every stage.

KNIFE POINT ROBBERY - TEEN AMBUSHED FOR E-BIKE AT ROSEVILLE STATION 🗞️🚲👮🚨

A 14-year-old from Neutral Bay has been charged with robbery, after police allege he was part of a group that ambushed a teenager at Roseville Train Station, stealing his electric bike while one of the attackers was allegedly armed with a knife.

The victim – a Warrawee boy – had listed a Surron electric bike on a social media buy, swap, sell platform.

Police allege the Neutral Bay teenager made contact online and the pair agreed to meet at Roseville station to complete the sale.
