Destined Rivals booster boxes spiked in price recently and it's been in high demand since it's release.

With the scarcity of the booster packs in the wild in either booster box/etb or retail format, the singles are also getting harder to come by.

It looks like a lot of SIRs and IRs in Destined Rivals is having a perfect storm for their card values. With the set very hard to find in the wild and pull rates rather tough, we might see single prices in the set move up the way Misty's Psyduck is.

With relatively stable volume on a daily basis over the last 3 months, prices have increased 40%. We've had two releases since Destined Rivals and without any meaningful additional supply for the packs, there's no telling where sealed Destined Rivals product as well as singles will land.

Do you think the upcoming packs from retail products will help with pricing for Destined Rivals or is it too little too late from the Pokémon Company?

Card prices falling? Is that a thing in this market?

Here are two examples of cards that saw recent all time highs decrease slightly over the last month.

The Mew EX Black Star Promo from the 151 UPC and Charizard EX SIR from Obsidian Flames both saw about 15% price decrease over the last month.

They've seen insane growth up until September but has since taken a step backwards. There's a high possibility that a lot of folks holdings copies or multiple copies of this card are cashing in and unloading at the new heightened prices.

With the market in its current condition, do you believe this is a short break before these cards start climbing again or will we see a more reasonable price for these cards moving forward?

The "baby Moonbreon", Umbreon V is getting it's time in the spotlight.

Nowhere close to the $2000+ price tag for a NM raw copy of the Umbreon VMAX, it still managed to climb 188% over the past 3 months to a $680 price for a NM raw copy.

Considering where the Evolving Skies Booster Box price is at the moment, do you believe this was a justified increase or was it the doing of Team Rocket?

Either way, the liquidity/sell through rate of this card is rather low online and I'm sure it'll be hard to find at card shows.

Do you think we'll see most of the Eeveelutions move upwards throughout the holidays and follow the Moonbreon to new all time highs in pricing?

Another day, another stonking card!

This time, Clobbopus from Surging Sparks.

Seems like the MO of cards is very low sales volume into the massive increase.

Considering Surging Sparks recently got a huge reprint of ETBs and booster bundles, there's an assumption that there will be new inventory of singles into the market as folks crack these into the holiday season.

That being said, Illustration Rare cards are pretty hard to pull these days. At least specific cards. Both Magikarp from Paldea Evolved and Seismitoad from Black Bolt are only IRs and they're both commanding $200+ card prices.

Will we see these new prices for these cards stick or will Team Rocket find themselves in a deep hole?

Does anyone remember these from the SWSH era?

Amazing Rare cards were found in two sets in the Sword and Shield era. 6 of them, including the Rayquaza featured in today's post can be found in Vivid Voltage. The other 3 can be found in the holiday set, Shining Fates.

These cards didn't last very long in the hobby as at the time of release, they ended up being "bulk" cards. There are probably thousands of these cards just hanging out in people's personal collection binders or worse yet, in bulk piles across the globe.

With all the hype in the hobby, these cards are starting to see insane levels of appreciation with Rayquaza seeing 256% price increase in the last 3 months.

What other cards do you believe are currently in the "bulk" pile but will see a similar level of price appreciation?

Mewtwo EX from XY Breakthrough is going through it's own breakthrough in pricing over the last 6 months (did that land?).

Appreciating 172%, this card is extremely hard to find in NM raw format and the sales volume shows. Although there might be some periods with elevated prices, there are some periods with no sales at all meaning it's also very slow to move.

As Mega Evolutions kicks off a new era in the Pokémon TCG, it's providing a lift to the Mega Evolutions era from YX.

Do you believe we'll see even more appreciation of XY era cards in the coming months as more Mega Evolution sets get released?

Did you ever think Mewtwo V Alternate Art from The Pokémon Go TCG set would be closing in on $100?

Look at it now, who would of thought? The set was released in the summer of 2022. The hype in the hobby has significantly slowed down and the SWSH era was closing in on it's end.

The assumption was that a lot of POGO players would convert to the TCG side of the hobby as there should of been some synergies from buying packs. They included codes that you could redeem Pokémon Go for some items. Most of these codes expired at the end of 2023.

That aside, there were a lot of product readily available even up until as early as 2025. The set did not bode well with TCG fans and collectors alike. With only a handful of real hits and a notoriously hard pull rate, no one really wanted to touch the set until the recent boom.

Mewtwo V almost hit $20 at it's low and was could easily be found online. Fast forward to today, it's increased 129% in the last 3 months and will be looking to cross $100 in price.

Do you think this card if finally getting the attention it deserves or is it just hype in the hobby boosting prices across the board?

Insane how the most recent set, Mega Evolutions, released at about $300 for a booster box.

With all the supply chain constraints that the Pokémon Company is experiencing, it does appear like their strategy is shifting from more retail oriented products that suit big box stores such as Wal-mart, Target and Costco vs the local game stores that need booster boxes to give out during organized play events.

When looking at some of the current boxes in the Scarlet and Violet era, some are approaching the $500 mark such as Destined Rivals and Paldea Evolved while lessor known sets such as Paradox Rift breached $300. Looking back, there are a couple of sets still in the Sword and Shield era who are OUT OF PRINT that are cheaper such as Battle Styles and Vivid Voltage that are both sitting in the $250 range.

Are Scarlet and Violet products more popular than Sword and Shield products in todays market?

Mega Evolutions released last Friday.

The start of the new Generation in the TCG, it's bringing back Mega Evolutions.

With insane Special Illustration Rare artwork, it's also bringing a new visual format to the gold cards. Mega Lucario and Mega Gardevoir EX are the featured gold cards in the set.

Looking more blingy than previous gold card predecessors, they are both holding steady at $500 price points at release. Considering this set will be released in two waves and products are already very hard to come by with already existing sets, there might be a world where the prices for these cards hold or even increase into the holidays.

The hobby looks like there's no real signs of slowing down and with continued supply chain issues and demand either maintaining or increasing into the holidays, will we see these gold cards start climbing and how fast?

Do you think the wave approach The Pokémon Company is using to release new products is helping or hurting the hobby?

Probably one of the more random cards appreciating in value, Gengar EX Full Art from Temporal Forces has doubled in price over the last 3 months.

With a set filled with SIR's and IR's that are easier to pull, it's a bit surprising that this card is appreciating in value. Considering traditional full art cards don't really get the attention as some of the other rarity cards do and with similar pull rates, we'll see if this card is able to maintain its price point.

Do you think there's just too many people in the hobby now that anything and everything has a chance to swing upwards in price?

First the bulk cards, then the promo cards and now the main cards from the Classic Collection of Celebrations is moving up in price.

We did see a spike for this card earlier this year although it's recently breached the $100 mark with healthy sales volume.

As the 30th Pokémon anniversary continues to approach, many collectors are acquiring their copies of cards they want from the 25th anniversary set.

With demand which feels to be at an all time high, do you believe we'll continue to see prices for the Celebrations and Celebrations Classic Collection continue to increase? How much product do you believe The Pokémon Company will put out into the market with the current state of the hobby?
