Meet Messi the Puma, now unlike most big cats that exist in the wild or in zoos, this big cat, lives in a 1 bedroom apartment in Russia.

Messi was born in captivity at a zoo in Russia, but suffered from various health problems at just three months old. During his stay at the zoo, Messi was kept in a very small enclosure and was malnourished, which caused him to develop muscle weakness, rickets which is a degenerative bone disease and a urinary tract infection.

The zoo decided that because pumas were not native to Russia, they could not simply release it into the wild, and because of it’s illnesses, that prevented him from living in another zoo or animal sanctuary. So they had planned to euthanize him.

A couple by the name of Aleksandr and Mariya Dmitriev, heard about the sickly cub, and after talking with other puma breeders and learning everything about the maintenance and care of the animal, they took a leap of faith and approached the zoo about adopting it. And to their surprise, the zoo agreed!

Fun Fact: Despite their large size, cougars are actually more closely related to house cats than they are to other large cat species like jaguars and tigers.

Cougars, also commonly referred to as puma or mountain lion, and are members of the Felidae family.

Pumas are native to the Americas, and they are the largest feline species on these continents, with males being up to 2.4 m (7.9 ft) long from head to tail and weighing up to 100 kg (220 lb). Messi is unlike most cougars, he is about half the size of a normal adult male because of his health conditions. The owners also point out that he is very gentle and loving.

DOLPHIN MEETS DOG! Friends at first sight 🐶🐬❤️

There have been multiple viral videos featuring dogs and dolphins, demonstrating their unusual but heartwarming friendships. These clips are popular because they show surprising bonds between different species that are both intelligent and social.

Notable dolphin and dog friendships
-Trasto and Manoliño: A viral video showed a dog named Trasto in Spain rushing to the edge of a harbor to greet and swim with his wild dolphin friend, Manoliño.

-Forest the service dog: A video posted to the Instagram account showed a golden retriever named Forest having a "purest interaction" with a dolphin at an aquarium. The aquarium visit resulted in a tender moment that spread across the internet.

-A lifelong friendship: A 2021 video on The Dodo site recounts the 8-year-long friendship between a golden retriever named Gunner and a dolphin named Delta. The two met when Gunner was a puppy, and their bond has endured.

-Bahamas encounter: In a viral TikTok, a golden retriever named Tulip, who is obsessed with sea creatures, is seen in a canal attempting to play with a dolphin. The dolphin is visibly active and eating fish while the dog looks on, completely absorbed.

-Florida friends: In 2023, a Florida family's dog befriended a wild dolphin they named Pinecone. The Today Show shared a video of their regular, heartwarming interactions on TikTok.

Why these friendships happen
Both dogs and dolphins are highly social and intelligent animals that possess a strong sense of curiosity. Their ability to understand play signals allows them to interact across species in a surprisingly easy manner. Dolphins, in particular, are known for their playful behavior and can display curiosity toward other creatures.

News stories regularly report on couples finding stranded dolphins and alerting authorities to their rescue. Search results from 2025 detail multiple incidents in Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom where couples or members of the public have helped save distressed marine mammals.

Example of a recent rescue
In September 2025, a couple walking their dogs in Savage Harbour, Prince Edward Island, came across a young dolphin stuck in the grass. After discovering the calf's mother nearby in shallow water, they contacted the Marine Animal Response Society. A rescue team, including government officials and local fishermen, arrived and successfully returned both dolphins to the bay.

General procedures for stranded marine animals
If you find a stranded dolphin or other marine animal, professional rescuers advise following these steps to ensure both your safety and the animal's well-being:

-Do not push the animal back into the sea. A stranded animal may be sick or injured. Pushing it back could prevent a necessary medical examination or cause it to re-strand elsewhere.

-Call for help immediately. Contact a local marine animal rescue organization or a national stranding network. In the US, for example, NOAA Fisheries provides contact information for regional hotlines. In the UK, you can call British Divers Marine Life Rescue.

-Keep your distance. Maintain a safe distance from the animal and keep pets on a leash. Stranded animals are stressed, and their actions can be unpredictable. Marine mammals can also transmit diseases to humans and pets.

-Provide first aid while waiting for rescue. If you have personal protective gear, and with guidance from a rescue dispatcher, you can take steps to make the animal more comfortable:

-Keep it cool and moist by splashing water on its body.
-Do not obstruct the blowhole, located on top of the dolphin's head.
-Reduce stress by minimizing noise and keeping crowds away.
-Avoid walking near the tail, as a frightened animal may thrash it unexpectedly.

The snow leopard cub tragically fell from a height, was near death—but love gave him a second life.

A six-month-old snow leopard cub was found severely injured and collapsed on the ground. Rangers immediately transported him to a temporary rescue facility, then drove more than 1,500 kilometers to bring him to a specialized pet hospital.

Diagnosis showed that the cub not only had external injuries but also suffered nerve damage. After more than a month of dedicated care from medical staff, Ling Xiaozhi gradually recovered from his initial immobile state, becoming able to stand and walk, and even return to his bed on his own.

The video documented in detail his eating habits (particularly his love for bone sticks), rehabilitation training process, and personality traits (guarding his food bowl after meals and being cautious around strangers). Although complete recovery still faces significant uncertainty, Ling Xiaozhi's condition continues to improve, demonstrating the tenacity and resilience of life.

Rescuers Pull Injured Jaguar Out Of The Amazon River

Someone did this to him on purpose — find out why he's one of the lucky ones 🙏

Dodo Producer, Mateo, explains how this was more than just a "dramatic rescue," and the grim reality of jaguars being forced out of their habitats 💔

A fisherman had originally seen her and called the authorities, but by the time the authorities got there they were unable to locate her and eventually had to abandon the rescue mission. A few hours after she was once again spotted and the authorities were called back in, but this time the fisherman stuck around until the authorities got there and rescued her. She had been swimming for about 8 hours before they were able to rescue her.

They belive tge 30 pellets were to be from a shotgun trap, because it is commonly used in the villages around by poachers and what not, however this has been not confirmed. She unfortunately has lost an eye and some teeth, but she is a fighter with lots of life in her and she has been making amazing progress in her recovery. Eventually she will be returned to the wild that is if everything goes according to plans.

Either way she has been and will be well taken care of if. The person who did it probably skipped town by now because the whole country is well aware so Charges will be brought. Its probably best that this person will turn themselves in than falling on the hand of angry mob thirst to give then a shot of they own medice.

Kids Have Fallen Into Gorilla Enclosures In The Past But With Different Endings

Before the Cincinnati Zoo tragedy involving a little boy and a giant gorilla, there have been other, similar encounters that ended without the primate being shot to death. In 1986, a 5-year-old boy named Levan Merritt fell into a gorilla enclosure and was knocked unconscious.

A silverback gorilla named Jambo stroked the boy's back as if to soothe him. In 1996, a 3-year-old boy tumbled more than 20 feet into the gorilla exhibit. She placed him near the cage's door and stepped back as zookeepers picked up the child.
