His Trunk Is Slowly Dying… A Deadly Snare Changed This Elephant’s Life Forever
Hello, dear friends. Welcome back to the elephant zone. Let’s treat a young elephant that was noticed with severe wounds to its trunk.
Upon visual examination, the doctor decided that the elephant should be sedated in order to start the treatments.
So, the officials darted the elephant with the necessary dosage of an anesthetic drug, using a tranquilizer gun. The dosages of this medicine are decided by the veterinary doctor based on the body weight and the health condition of the animal. The sedation process was extremely challenging. However, the skilled officials managed to sedate the poor creature safely.
Utilizing a tranquilizer gun from a distance is the safest and most efficient way to sedate the animal.
After the elephant had been sedated, the team soon rushed towards the elephant to check the wound more closely.
Then they noticed something unbelievable. The young elephant’s trunk had been caught in two snares. One snare wound was around the middle of the trunk, while the other was caught near the tip of the trunk. This might have caused immense pain and suffering for the poor animal.
However, over time, the wire that was wrapped around the trunk had fallen naturally, and the wounds had healed naturally. According to the doctor, these snares might have been caused more than 2 or 3 months before. By now, the trunk has been cut very deeply, and it is slightly hanging. This injury has made it difficult for the elephant to eat or drink, and the trunk has lost much of its flexibility.
