11 years ago I had two 35-40lb grass carp swim alongside my boat in the back lake, since then only one was ever spotted and very rarely aswell! Until last week when the pair of them shown up together again which just strengthens the fact that the back lake still has a lot of mystery to it! Each year sees new fish caught that we have never seen before and drones have captured a huge common and on one of the grass carp photos there is a mirror in the background that isn’t much shorter than the grassies, but is much deeper and wider 😎🙌🏻

Luke Janes landing net seems to be a homing beacon for old, character carp at the moment with this amazing looking mirror his latest result while using one of our boilies on test. Luke told us…

“I’d heard whispers about a few old carp lurking in a massive park lake not far from home. Curiosity got the better of me, so I went to take a look and sure enough, a few shadows were located close in; milling about in the margins with confidence as if they owned the place. It wasn’t long before I crossed paths with the best of the trio a proper character of a carp - inique, dark, and every bit the resident you’d hope to catch in a place like this - probably uncaught too!

The best part? It all happened within a 2-hour parking ticket! No bivvy, no alarms - just timing, instinct, and a bit of luck!”

📸 A Forgotten Frame… and One Unforgettable Fish

While sorting through some photos the other day, I stumbled on this absolute belter I never got round to posting.
Sometimes, the best moments don’t need the spotlight, they just wait quietly in the background, ready to blow your mind when you least expect it.

This was one of those moments.

I’d just popped into Tez’s swim for a brew ☕, the kind of quiet evening chat only the bank can offer, when out of nowhere, the rod ripped off like it owed someone money.

The fight was heavy, relentless.
We both knew something serious was on the end of that line.
And then… this mid-60lb unit broke the surface. Wide as a coffee table, with shoulders like a rugby prop, it wasn’t just a catch. It was a moment.

This one’s for the memory bank, and now, finally, for the timeline too.

Massive respect to Tez for landing a proper beast. 🐋👏

30 years passed for .steve and Joan 🌼

The original days on Chanty (Lac Du Der) in 1994 when the fishing was very different, the fish weren't hard to catch if they were feeding but the conditions made it difficult with the mud and low water levels, wind and rain etc. but it was good fun. I just liked the look of the fish, they were distinctive looking and I just wanted to catch some of them. In the end we caught as many as we could cope with and even used fewer rods for less time to get some rest.

The Thames Adventure Begins…

Fishing for carp from a boat is something I’ve dreamed about for years, and despite owning several boats over time, I’d never actually set out to target them 🐳

This year, I was determined to finally make it happen. Not only to tick it off the list, but to push myself to a whole new level and hopefully create something special on film in the process 🎥

It’s been a lot of work to pull it all together, but after weeks of prep, planning, and persistence, the boat is now permanently moored on the mighty River Thames, and the adventure has officially begun 🤩

With several areas prepped and baited, I set out for that first trip with no idea what to expect, It came with a bit of drama (a story for another time) but this absolutely incredible mirror of 29lb 12oz has already made my season!

I genuinely can’t wait for the sessions ahead; this is a buzz I’ve not felt in years 🐝

Let’s see where this journey takes us….

River Du Lot France is getting closer and closer! Today and tomorrow final preparations, And then we kick it off to France to Joachim Stelma from Lot of Carp We are looking forward to it again, And what happened last year with Frank biting almost 40 and 26 carp was unprecedented! This year we are again in new subjects a little bit stronger Meaning is 5 new subjects fishing, New round new opportunities! If for me and Remco Berenschot both got the 1st fish in then the session is a success again! And everything that comes with is taken, It's not going to lie down on the bait! This year we're going there with the balls of Bas van den Broek of BFP Baits So everything is thought of! A week of bangs on the river de lot, wonderful, we're really looking forward to it! 💥🎣🤞
