Health CS Aden Duale on Friday presided over the Phase II disbursement of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Programme in Garissa County. The event was held at the Garissa Regional Commissioner's Residence.
A total of 5,405 young entrepreneurs received KSh135.1 million under the programme. The beneficiaries include 3,333 youth receiving a second round of funding and 2,072 new recipients.
Speaking during the event, Duale said the programme is helping young people start and grow businesses while creating more employment opportunities across the country.
In addition to business grants, the NYOTA Programme offers entrepreneurship training, mentorship, business development support and access to markets and government procurement opportunities.
The latest rollout follows the first phase, which benefited 2,205 young entrepreneurs in Garissa. The programme is being implemented across all 47 counties to support youth-led businesses and improve livelihoods.
