IDENTIFICATION REQUIRED: The Namibian Police in the Erongo Region are appealing to the public to assist in identifying victims of a fatal crash involving a Quantum minibus and a truck on Wednesday evening along the B2 road near the Swakop Uranium turn-off.

Families who may have had relatives travelling that route are urged to contact the nearest police station, as all occupants remain unidentified.

The accident claimed the lives of eight people.

FATAL ACCIDENT: The 46-year-old Junias Amalwa, driver of the truck in the accident on Friday narrates what happened shortly before the head-on collision with the minibus belonging to the Ministry of Health and Social Services occurred.

Eleven people including two nurses and three minor children died in the accident which occurred at approximately 30 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo on Friday morning at about 05h30.

FATAL ACCIDENT: A total of 11 bodies were recovered from the accident scene Friday morning between a minibus belonging to the Ministry of Health and Social Services and a truck on the B1 road approximately 30 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo.

Otjozondjupa police commander, Commissioner Philip Hidengwa confirmed the number. Allegedly the minibus bumped a kudu and 50-year-old driver lost control crashing into the truck. 46-year-old truck driver and his assistant survived the collision.
