ENDURING HARDSHIP: In the quiet village of Fumbe, nestled within the Mashare Constituency of Namibia’s Kavango East Region, Kapango Kavara, an elderly pensioner, endures each night on the cold, bare ground with her grandchildren.

For the past two years, this has been their reality. Inside her fragile hut, a rusting metal-framed bed sits unused in a corner.

Its hard frame offers no relief, only pain for Kavara’s aging back so she chooses the ground instead. She shares this life of struggle with her 44-year-old daughter and seven grandchildren, all of whom remain undocumented and out of school.

Here’s what the village development community member Marovu Louise Kayana had to say.

REGIONAL ELECTIVE MEETING: The Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) on Thursday held its regional elective meeting to elect its new regional leadership for the Katima Mulilo branch. For several years now, NCCI has been without a formal branch leadership structure in the Zambezi Region and other parts of the country.

New NCCI CEO, Titus Nampala has made it a top priority to revive these regional NCCI structures in the country, stressing that Namibia needs these structures for a healthy business sector to thrive.

Paid up NCCI members from different business sectors in Zambezi elected Sharon Limbo as chairperson of the Katima Mulilo regional branch deputised by Frank Ntemwa.

Other regional executive committee (ExCo) members are Mwaka Mukendwa, Richard Kakona, Sannety Sanyambe, Clara Likokoto, Inonge Mabakeng, and Michelle Nguvauva.
