We are From Form, a Rotterdam-based design and film studio founded by Jurjen Versteeg and Ashley Govers. We are passionate about working across print, spatial and film, and our projects include set design and photography, commercials, title sequences and graphics. The common thread that runs through our creative approach is our interest in building worlds based on meticulous attention to detail. W

e constantly explore different materials, textures, forms and processes. These experiments help us create immersive visual experiences that come to life on screen, on paper or in a 3D space. A few interpretations of thinking for . When they approached us with the brief to make a manifesto film about human thinking, we knew we wanted to create a visual mosaic narrative that combines animation, archival footage, and 16mm shots to playfully explore the concept of human thinking: the ideas you get on a train or under the shower. The process that is imperfect, full of flaws, insecurities, and, most of all, hard to define.

It really was a collaborative approach with the great and thoughtful people at Santori Labs.
Our editor did a great job finding these archival gems and connecting them and .eder composed the most wonderful score for this film. A dream collab on all sides 🫶

We face a fundamental choice about the future of human intelligence. Thinking is skilled work. It deserves the same care as any craft.

Some snippets from our latest project for .co about Seed Guardianship. We turned our studio into a 2-week playground scanning seeds, drawing carrots and cutting beans. All brought together in a 1-minute collage celebrating imperfection!

"As kids, we were surrounded by approachable ways to collect: from Flippos to Tamagotchis, Happy Meal toys to football cards. If you had more than one, you could already call yourself a collector.

In this campaign, we wanted to play with that low-key urge to collect. You don’t need to be an expert or a connoisseur. Collecting can also be personal: experiences and memories gathered during Museum Night."

As soon as we learned about the new switch function on the new , which turns your device into a distraction-free phone, we took the switching motion as the visual starting point for the campaign film.

Instead of relying on 3D renders, we chose to shoot all of the product shots in-camera. This involved building a custom 360º rig to fully rotate around the product and our talent.

To bring everything to life through sound and music, composed not only the campaign’s soundtrack but also a series of ringtones exclusively available on the Fairpone.

We’re out of office until July 9th and enjoying our holiday on our most favorite island, Vlieland!
A place close to our hearts and where we shot this series in 2016 for festival as part of being Designers in Residence. We attached a small strip of foil on the edge of the mirrors to create a subtle effect of depth.
Now we're gonna pick some oysters. 🦪 See you in July!
