In implementation of the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Than, a team from the Qatar Internationalآ Search andآ Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) arrived at Aleppo International Airport, representing the Standing Committee for Rescue, Relief and Humanitarian Assistance in sisterly and friendly countries.

The step comes in the framework of the team's participation in firefighting operations in areas of the Latakia countryside on the Syrian coast, in addition to providing urgent humanitarian aid to help mitigate the effects and repercussions of these fires.

The initiative embodies the State of Qatar's commitment to supporting the brothers in the Arab Republic of Syria, and supporting them during times of emergency and disasters through immediate response to urgent humanitarian needs.

70-year-old Syrian expatriate returned to the halls of Damascus University, four decades after war and political unrest forced him to abandon his education just short of graduation.

Mohammad Ali Al Najjar, originally from the northern Syrian town of Mare’, had been a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Islamic Law when he fled the country in 1981.

At the time, Syria was engulfed in a wave of military operations and crackdowns by the former regime targeting Islamist opposition groups. Like many others, Al Najjar left behind not only his home, but a lifetime’s worth of aspirations.

Yet he carried with him symbols of an unfinished dream: his original university ID card dated 1977 and an official transcript from 1981, documents he preserved for 44 years, holding onto the hope that one day he would return and finish what he started.

That hope materialized recently when Al Najjar submitted a formal request to resume his studies at Damascus University. His return was met with warmth and admiration.

At least 15 Palestinians, including eight children and two women, have been killed in an Israeli strike while queuing for nutritional supplements in front of a clinic in central Gaza, a hospital says.

Video from al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in Deir al-Balah showed the bodies of several children and others lying on the floor as medics treated their wounds.

US-based aid group Project Hope, which runs the clinic, said the attack was a blatant violation of international law. The Israeli military said it struck a "Hamas terrorist" and regretted any harm to civilians.

They were among 66 people reportedly killed in Israeli strikes on Thursday, as Israel and Hamas continued talks on a ceasefire deal.

Despite optimism expressed by the US, which is acting as a mediator along with Qatar and Egypt, they do not so far seem to be close to a breakthrough.

Iran’s president has warned the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to abandon its “double standards” if it hopes to restore cooperation over the country’s nuclear programme, amid an acute mistrust following Israel and the United States’ attacks on Iranian nuclear sites last month, and the UN nuclear watchdog’s refusal to condemn the strikes.

Speaking to European Council President Antonio Costa by phone on Thursday, President Masoud Pezeshkian said, “The continuation of Iran’s cooperation with the agency depends on the latter correcting its double standards regarding the nuclear file,” according to Iranian state media.
