MINISTER IN MATSAPHA TEXTILE FIRM OVER WORKER COMPLAINTS:
Minister of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi is currently locked in talks with management at textile company Artic Force in Matsapha, following a surge of worker grievances.
The complaints are serious and wide-ranging from alleged delayed salaries and unpaid overtime to claims of unreported layoffs and forced overtime, prompting the minister to take the unusual step of going directly to the factory floor.
But management is pushing back.
They have described the minister’s unannounced visit as both surprising and unsettling, insisting that workers are paid on time. According to the company, past payment delays were linked to banking issues and not internal failures. They maintain that all overtime work was properly compensated.
The engagement is ongoing, with both sides expected to clarify the situation as tensions between workers and management come under scrutiny.

TENSIONS ARE RISING AHEAD OF MAY DAY:
A major setback has emerged regarding the planned venue.
Hlatikulu Central High School, where the event was set to take place, falls under the KoNtshingila area led by Chief Bhozongo, who has made it clear the gathering will not be allowed.
The Chief says he informed both TUCOSWA leadership and the school principal Clement Khumalo at least two weeks ago that the venue could not be used, giving them ample time to secure an alternative.
He added that TUCOSWA only reached out again yesterday requesting permission but he stood firm, telling them to 'forget' about using the venue.
TUCOSWA had filed an urgent application before Senior Magistrate Jabulani Maphalala.
During a court adjournment, TUCOSWA’s legal representative Sibusiso Nhlabatsi, was seen in discussion with Shiselweni Regional Administrator Themba Masuku.
The matter was stood down and has still not resumed as the parties await the arrival of lawyers from AG's office.
