Abstain From the Appearance of Evil

The Bible doesn’t just tell us to stay away from sin, it says to avoid even the appearance of it.

“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” (1 Thessalonians 5:22)

When Christians participate in Halloween that is a night filled with witchcraft, death, and fear: what testimony does that give to a watching world? Even if you claim it’s “just for fun,” the world still sees you walking in step with darkness.
Our lives should point to Christ, not cause confusion.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

Choosing to abstain from the appearance of evil is not legalism: it’s obedience. It’s protecting your testimony. It’s shining the light of Christ in a dark world.
