Tesla has introduced cleaning fees for its Robotaxi service in the United States, charging passengers for messes left inside its self-driving vehicles.
Under the new rules, a $50 fee applies to food spills, dirt, or minor stains. More serious cases, such as vomiting classified as biowaste or smoking inside the vehicle, can lead to a $150 cleaning charge.
Tesla said each trip will be reviewed, and riders will be informed by email if a cleaning fee is applied based on the type and severity of the mess.
Other robotaxi operators, including Waymo and Zoox, already follow similar policies, with cleaning fees typically ranging from $50 to $100 or more.
