Is the Nike Alphafly 3 the best shoe for HYROX?

The Nike Alphafly 3 is an elite running shoe and a frequent top finisher at major marathons. It has been on the feet of some of the best in HYROX including 3x World Champ Lauren Weeks.

Nike just unveiled two upcoming models for hybrid racing - the Nike Hybrid RN and the Nike Hybrid Fly that will be coming out in October 2026 and April 2027, but how does the Nike Alphafly 3 do for HYROX?

Run: 9.5/10. This shoe is a lethal weapon on the run if you know how to use them. Extra work on your form more than pays off to get the benefit of the launch from the plate and forefoot Zoom units.

Sleds: 8.5/10. I was pleasantly surprised how well these did for the sleds. Just don’t get stuck in lane 1 and you’ll be ok.

BBJ: 9/10. Once again, a strong correction between great runners and great BBJ with forefoot spring. The upper also assisted with holding the foot into place on the landing.

Lunges: 6.5/10. In hindsight, I could have given these a 6. Forefoot stability is ok, but the fat stack of ZoomX in the heel was too wobbly.

Wall Balls: 5/10. Driving through the heels is not easy in these. It requires a lot more from the quads and calves to keep you stable through the reps at the end of the race those legs are going to be pretty taxed.

The Nike Alphafly 3 is a great choice for your race if you a muscle your way through the last two stations and stay focused on the finish. From initial photos shown of the upcoming Nike Hybrid Fly, it looks like Nike really went after where the Alphafly 3 fell short for HYROX - looking forward to testing that one soon!

Nike has officially unveiled Nike Hybrid, a new performance footwear system built for the growing world of hybrid training and racing 🏃🏋️

As the sport continues to evolve, athletes have often been forced to choose between running shoes built for speed and training shoes built for stability. Nike Hybrid is designed to eliminate that compromise.

The lineup features two new models:
⚡ Nike Hybrid Fly for race day
💪 Nike Hybrid RN for everyday training

Nike worked alongside elite hybrid athletes Dylan Scott and Lauren Weeks to develop, refine, and pressure-test the system for the unique demands of hybrid competition.
