GalaxyCon New Orleans was a pretty good time. Despite only making it two days, I sold a lot of books, made some new friends, and had a blast hanging with my vendor family. Many laughs were had with Ilyssa Archuleta, Brittany Landry, and Charles Bodenheimer. It really helped the hours pass.

Some show highlights:

- My first sale was from a customer who said he attended just to meet me and get a copy of Cannibal Fat Camp. 🥹

- Getting to meet Tim Jacobus, the legendary artist of the Goosebumps books. I had to buy a print and sketch of my all time favorite and the first one I read back in 1993. It likely started my love of horror.

- I had a long discussion with Brian O'Halloran (Clerks1/2/3). We talked acting, movies, and upcoming projects. Such a nice guy. And yes, he was supposed to be there that day.

- Talking to Kim-Joy of The Great British Bake Off fame and watching her try a Violet Sprinkles, A Macaron Boutique macaron. Her and her husband were both super nice.

- Also gave Mick Foley a head nod of respect

Another weekend. Another show. And so many memories made.

I can’t wait to see my vendor friends. So many of them are there. I think I’m sandwiched between Nyxx Creations and Violet Sprinkles, A Macaron Boutique so it should be a fun time! 🎃

This is the one I was waiting for! I couldn't hold back my excitement when I received the news that The Glass Coffin has been named a Finalist at the prestigious HorrorHound Weekend Film Festival!

In addition to being named a finalist, I have been invited to attend the festival as a guest in September. How incredibly cool!

Winning smaller festivals has been a tremendous honor, but having my work recognized by one of the largest horror film festivals is surreal and such a thrill.

As always, thank you to the many friends who table-read, offered feedback, and assisted with dialogue on this screenplay. I couldn't have done it without you.

The Glass Coffin was named the Best Overall Short Screenplay at the Sunset Boulevard International Film Festival in Los Angeles, CA!

I am honored they found it worthy and that this zombie screenplay, which explores familial and societal decay, has had such a strong run on the festival circuit. This now makes for three overall wins and one finalist.

Congrats to everyone who had a hand in this screenplay with me. The friends who read it at table reads and provided feedback, and of course Andre Chapoy and Jorge Eduardo Torres-Lopez II who worked with me on the dialogue of their characters. I truly feel that is what has put this screenplay over the top. It is real and authentic.

In our final announcement, the incredibly-talented Vivian Kasley has the last story in the anthology and she takes us out on an incredibly high note.

In "Mangia, Mangia," journalist Bill Kolisch seeks out former mobster Vinny Gagootz to uncover the truth behind a gruesome massacre at a Bronx warehouse thirty years ago. This tense tale blends organized crime with an unsettling mystery.

Vivian Kasley hails from the land of the strange and unusual, Florida! She’s a writer of short stories and poetry. Her words haunt places such as Written Backwards, Cemetery Gates Media, Brigids Gate Press, Vastarien, Ghost Orchid Press, Death’s Head Press, October Nights Press, The Denver Horror Collective, and poetry in Black Spot Books inaugural women in horror poetry showcase: Under Her Skin and Under Her Eye. She definitely has more in the works, including her first collection coming in October of 2025. When not writing or subbing at the local middle school, she spends time reading in bubble baths, walking through graveyards, snuggling her rescue animals, going on adventures with her partner, and searching for seashells and other treasure along the beach.

The Glass Coffin picked up another laurel this weekend, being named a finalist in the Frights Camera Action Horror Screenplay Contest.

It is always an honor to have my writing recognized and we have spent long hours this weekend further editing the film. I truly feel it’s going to be such a fine addition to the zombie genre.
