In an unsolicited marketing email, a fellow said he “was really impressed with your commitment to being women-owned while excelling in design, photography, and video—bravo.” Wow, thanks! I do like being woman-owned. 🤦♀️ I have such an aversion to this kind of impersonal (probably AI-generated) marketing-speak. It sometimes makes me question what I’m doing having a media business and trying to promote myself on gross capitalist platforms like this. But I’m reminding myself that I don’t need to compete with “people” like this who value the hollow reward of “engagement” over actual human connection. I’m only here in the hopes of reaching some real, live, local humans who might want my real-life, in-person offerings: capturing moments of their lives in photographs, or understanding what they want to say and helping them present it clearly and beautifully. If you know someone who needs this kind of work, send ‘em my way. Because I’m probably not going to “hit 249K reach”, as this guy is promising, anytime soon. But don’t worry: he also says “I ensure you we can part ways if you’re not interested.” Phew.
