Sheer Golden Hooks, Jeffrey Clark’s solo debut, turned 30 this year.

Formerly the frontman and chief songwriter of Shiva Burlesque, Jeffrey Clark always had a unique poetic vision: this collection of recordings from 1991-1995 range from his early, garagey, Scott Walker-style pop sound with plenty of cellos and violins through the somewhat psychedelic guitar-based songs of his mid-period and ending with his later work of prose and stories set to improvised music.

The debut almost-concept album of interstate twenty-somethings Driveway Ceiling unveils a heady brew of trippy sunshine pop with tinges of Tropicalia, art rock and various mind-boggling aural ephemera. The four piece looks both back and forward, finding a balance between the best of 60s and 90s sonic trips while speaking resolutely to and of today.
