Class: The Traffic Stop Playbook: Effective & Defensible K9 Deployments

Chris Cannon is an active K9 handler with a Sheriff’s Office in Kentucky and brings over two decades of hands-on experience training and working dogs. His background spans both operational and civilian sectors, giving him a well-rounded, practical perspective on dog behavior, learning, and performance.

Chris is a certified instructor through the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and he holds a NePoPo® Gold Certification.

In addition to his law enforcement duties, he owns two training companies: Commonwealth Dog Works, specializing in behavior modification for pet dogs, and Cannon Canine Consulting, which provides specialized training for working K9 teams.

His areas of instruction include traffic stop deployment, detection, tracking, e-collar application, and the principles of canine learning. Known for his practical, experience-driven approach, Chris remains an active practitioner and committed lifelong learner, continually refining his methods to improve outcomes for both handlers and their dogs.

Dr. David Adebimpe, DSc, PhD., founder and CEO of Polymath Interscience, is a research scientist, philosopher and inventor who uses his cross-disciplinary skills and expertise to solve unique problems that require the convergence of different scientific and technical disciplines and philosophies. With over 30 years of combined experience as a biochemistry, nanotechnology and organic chemistry professor and a guest scientist at NIST and NASA, he is a subject matter expert and world leader in the application of odorology and scent-engineering with the mechanics of mammalian olfaction to the development of scent-detection training aids and practical tools that enhance the olfactory capabilities of operational search-and-detect K9s.

Mike McHenry, who served 8 years in the U.S. Army, is the owner & Lead Trainer of F.M. K9 LLC, which was founded in 2012. He has over 25 years of experience in the canine industry, training explosives and narcotics detection, patrol/utility work, SAR, and Cadaver for local, state, federal and military.

Mike is a retired police officer, having served 20 years on the force, and a former SWAT officer for 11 years, 3 of those years were spent with a canine SWAT Team.

Mike McHenry has a BSA in Criminal Justice and a Masters Degree in Psychology. He is a DRE/SFST Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor and has instructed basic decoy skills for over 15 years.

Mike Clemenson is the owner of Hill Country Dog Center, LLC. He has over 25 years of experience as a K9 Handler, Trainer and Instructor and over 15 years as a Program Manager. Mike spent 7 of those years training MDDs in support of UN and DOS sponsored capacity building initiatives and clearance operations.

Mike was a former MDD trainer at Global Training Academy and is certified in canine tracking and trailing, a certified DoD and MWD trainer. His company, Hill Country Dog Center, has trained and delivered over 2000 canines to support the U.S. Military, DOS, UN and local law enforcement.
