We’re thrilled to be included alongside so many other brilliant publications in the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Victoria and Albert Museum Photopoetry display, on view until September 20th at the V&A South Kensington in London.

The Earth Will Come to Laugh and Feast, published by powerHouse Books in 2020, evokes the strong bond between art and literature, and of ekphrastic writing that evokes images by highlighting hidden relationships and implied mysteries.

We’re thrilled to share that Jean Francois Bouchard’s film La Retaguardia (The Ones Who Stay) has been acquired and released by The New York Times as part of its Op-Docs series, a platform internationally recognized for showcasing some of the most compelling and Academy Award-winning / Emmy-winning short documentary films from around the world.

Released by powerHouse in 2024, Bouchard’s book The New Cubans illuminates the previously underreported youth culture of contemporary Cuba. Together, The New Cubans and La Retaguardia form an evolving portrait of a generation navigating uncertainty, reinvention, and the changing realities of Cuba’s growing crisis.

A Carnival of Mimics is a photo essay from acclaimed photographer and art critic Max Kozloff. Kozloff gradually became aware that commercial effigies and statues, dummies and mannequins had begun to infiltrate his urban subject matter. Underfoot or overhead, these “mimics” comprise a subpopulation that begs for notice and often does not get it. Somewhere in the realm between banal and mysterious, in his hands this animistic spectacle acquires eerie overtones and beautiful presentation.
