Central City – Lonnie Wayne Shemwell, 76, of Central City, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Mr. Shemwell was born in Central City on December 14, 1948, to the late Wilbur and Virginia Shemwell. He was a believer of the Holiness faith, and a master mechanic. He loved cooking and baking bread, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and reading the bible. Lonnie was preceded in death by both parents; his sons, Adam Shemwell and Matthew Shemwell; his sisters, Esther Shemwell, Joyce Cory, June Perry, Shirley Strange, Vickie Avery, and Gayle Grogan; and a granddaughter, Earla Michelle Shemwell.

He is survived by his children, Dwayne (Earla) Shemwell, Mark Shemwell, JoNell Smith, Jason (Christy) Shemwell, Penny (Chris) Saylor, Amy (Glenn) Avery, Reuben (Kristi) Shemwell, Patrick (Taylor) Shemwell, Sarah (Jake) Perryman, Andrea (David) Reed, Curtis (Angel) Shemwell, Colton (Carleigh) Shemwell, and Camden Shemwell; brothers, Larry (Tilda) Shemwell, Ronnie (Debbie) Shemwell, Keith (Sharon) Shemwell, Marty (Phyllis) Shemwell, and Kevin (Lisa) Shemwell; his sisters, Beverly and the late Eugene Uzzle, Deborah and the late Bill Morris, and Diane (Gary) Joines; 39 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 12 noon at Powderly Holiness Church with Bro. Larry Shemwell and Bro. Ryan Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill in Central City. BEECHMONT – Phillip Dwight Oller, 71, of Beechmont, died Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Mr. Oller was born December 6, 1953, in Hopkinsville. He was an underground coal miner with Peabody Coal Co. for 42 years, and a member of Woodson Missionary Baptist Church in Powderly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Nellie Oller.



He is survived by his wife, Anna Richard Oller; daughter, Kim (Eddie) Dishman; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; cousin, Curtis Thomason; and fur babies, Hector and Cookie.



Funeral services will be Friday, November 7, 2025, at 11:00AM at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home, with Bro. Nick Duvall officiating, assisted by Brent Noffsinger. Burial in Forest Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday after 5:00PM and Friday after 8:00AM at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to American Diabetes Association. GREENVILLE—Pastor Larry Clayton Hancock, 77. of Greenville, KY died on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital Emergency Room in Greenville. He was born in Union County, KY on September 2, 1948, the son of William Hancock and Pauline Holland Hancock. He was the pastor of Landmark Assembly of God Church. He loved the Lord and loved to study and preach the Bible.

Pastor Hancock was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Margie Nell Bivins Hancock in 2022, and a son Jamie Hancock.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 6 at 1:00 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville conducted by Rev. Shane Garrett. Burial will follow at Landmark Cemetery.

He is survived by three sons----Terry Culaper of Shelbyville, IN,
Cary Daugherty of Greenville, KY,
Tommy (Annie) Daugherty of Bowling Green, KY;
three grandchildren;
seven great grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews.

GREENVILLE – Lynne “Moe” Renee Parsons, 69, of Greenville, died Monday, November 3, 2025, at 4:00AM at Maple Health and Rehab in Greenville. Ms. Parsons was born April 6, 1956, in Beech Creek. She attended Hazel Creek Baptist Church, and enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, old TV classics, and fishing. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Elwood and Anna Sue Rust; brothers, Kevin Rust, Ricky “Moon” Rust, and Dean Rust; and sister, Vicky Putnam.



She is survived by her sons, Adam (Chloe’) Parsons and Aaron Parsons; grandchildren, Cameron Parsons and Caitlin Howard; sister, Anne Marie (Anthony) Martin; brother, Barry Rust; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; special caregivers, helpers, and taxi drivers, Taleah Rust and Barbara McPherson; and special family caregivers.

GREENVILLE - Leigh Ann Rice, 31, of Greenville, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on November 1, 2025 at 2:18pm. She was born on December 20, 1993, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville, KY.

Leigh Ann loved life deeply. She cherished time with her family and found peace and joy in the outdoors. She worked at South Elementary, where she truly loved her job and the children she saw each day. She shared compassion, warmth, and genuine care with every child and coworker she came across. She was loved by so many in her community, and her bright spirit and kind heart left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her son, Memphis Rayne Chaplic; sister, Whittany Michelle Buchanan; grandfather, Jerry Bryant; great-grandparents, Charlie & Freda Lovell and James & Minnie Buchanan; and great-uncle, Billy Lovell.

She is survived by her husband, Johnathan Rice of Greenville, KY; daughter, Haleigh Ann Mathis of Greenville, KY; stepson, Waylon Jones of Central City, KY; parents, John & Lori Payne of Greenville, KY; grandparents, Bobby & Brenda Buchanan of Powderly, KY, Joyce Bryant of Graham, KY, and Nancy Payne of Madisonville, KY; siblings, Houston Buchanan of Powderly, KY, Tylor (Casey) Haire of Cleaton, KY, Lawton Buchanan of Greenville, KY, Hunter (Brittany) Buchanan of Powderly, KY, and Talon (Gracie) Carender of Greenville, KY; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and many beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Leigh Ann’s presence, laughter, and love will be forever missed by all who had the gift of knowing her.

POWDERLY – Randall Wade Adams, 62, of Powderly, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Heartford House in Owensboro, Kentucky, surrounded by family. He was born June 19, 1963, to Richard and Zelmodene Adams. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Covenant of Grace Community Church in Greenville, Kentucky. Randy always had a deep connection with the outdoors. An avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman, he cherished time spent in the woods or on the lake with friends and family. Randy was the originator of the annual “Take a Kid Fishing” event at Luzerne Lake, and was known as “Big Country” or “Big A” by all those that loved him. A proud University of Kentucky Wildcats fan, he rarely missed a game and could be found cheering on the Cats with his trademark enthusiasm.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Zelmodene Adams; and his brothers, Michael Spears, Steven Spears, and David Adams.



He is survived by his former wife, Lydia Adams of Greenville, KY; their children, Emily (Brandon) Harvey of Greenville, KY and Lucas (Olivia) Adams of Greenville, KY; son, Justin Epley (Desirae) of Beaverton, Oregon; sisters, Melody Gary of Louisville, KY and Marilyn (Todd) Peveler of Powderly, KY; brothers, Daniel (Doris) Adams of Greenville, KY and Eddie (Carolyn) Adams of Paducah, KY; grandchildren, Rylan Harvey, Taytum Harvey, Eden Adams, Jack Adams, and baby Adams due in May; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Bowling Green – James Franklin Vaught, 73, of Bowling Green, died Friday, October 31, 2025 at 11:05p.m. at Hospice House in Bowling Green. Mr. Vaught was born March 30, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois. James was always a hardworking man; he was a retired maintenance worker for Staybridge Suites, worked for Phoenix Metals for 25 years, and was also employed at Dunlap RV for seven and a half years. He was a member for the Open Door Baptist Church in Georgia, and like a true man of God had a servant’s heart, helping others in any way he could, especially as a handyman for anything that needed fixing. James was preceded in death by his darling wife, Barbara Vaught; his parents, William “Bill” and Freda Vaught; and his grandparents, Rosco and Stella Vaught.

He is survived by his daughters, Denise Walker, Dennetta (Joe) Lombardo, and Brandie Shea (Eric) Ayala; his brother, Buddy Vaught; his sisters, Connie Vaught, Janice Nemcek, Teresa Brand, Alisa Chambers, and Kathy Green; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Travis, Erin, Blake, Christopher, Brittanie, Rosa, and Jonah; a great grandchild, Mason; and a beloved companion cat, Max.

Belton – Gayla Joie Goodman, 78, of Belton, died October 31, 2025, at 9:03p.m. at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro. Ms. Goodman was born October 24, 1947, in Louisville, KY. She was a retired human resource officer and she was of the Baptist faith. Gayla was an avid reader, a national 3D Target Champion in archery, and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Goodman; her parents, Jo and Recei Maxberry; and her brother, Jimmie Maxberry.

She is survived by her daughters, Samantha (Christopher) Nasielski, and Gabrielle Goodman; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Heather) Goodman, Emily (Patrick) Gibbs, Jackson Bledsoe, and Gillian (Aaron) Bledsoe; her great grandchildren, Savannah Gibbs, Mason Goodman, Wyatt Pierce, and Louis Pierce; and her sister, Ruth Shutt.

Greenville – Linda Sue Randolph, 78, of Greenville, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025. She was born January 10, 1947 to Felix and Mary Willis from Greenville, Kentucky. Linda devoted most of her life in the nursing field and was the co-owner of B&J Trucking of Greenville, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Mary Willis; and her loving husband, Johnny O’Bryan Randolph.

She is survived by her daughter, Sadonna (Terry) Rose of Greenville, KY; son, Bryan (Sheila) Randolph of Greenville, KY; brother, Alan Willis of White Plains, KY; four grandchildren, Seth (Wendy) Randolph, Trevor Randolph, Lucinda Randolph, and Isaiah Randolph; four great grandchildren, and her loyal furbaby “Maui”.

CLIFTY---Martha Jean Settle, 89, of Clifty, KY died on October 30, 2025 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. She was born in Clifty, KY on September 22, 1936, the daughter of Ray Combs and Louise Rager Combs. She had worked as a supervisor at Emerson Electric for 37 years. She was of the Church of Christ faith, and she loved to quilt and sew and spend time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years Howard Franklin Settle in 2004, a daughter Brenda Hobgood, a grandson Seth Settle, three brothers, and a sister.

Funeral services will be private with burial in Heltsley Cemetery in Clifty, KY. Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY is in charge of arrangements.

CENTRAL CITY – Rebecca “Diann” Joines, 75, of Central City, died Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 2:10AM under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Mrs. Joines was born April 25, 1950 in Central City. She was a homemaker and member of First Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Morgantown. She enjoyed trips to the mountains, and was the best cook there was. She loved Jesus. She was an excellent seamstress, wrote three gospel songs and also wrote stories. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing the piano, singing, and playing the accordion. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Peggy Shemwell; son, Joseph Joines; and siblings, Lonnie Shemwell, Joyce Corey, June Perry, Shirley Strange, Gail Grogan, and Vicky Avery.



She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gary Joines; children, Danny Joines (Louise), Gary Wayne (Teresa) Joines, and Rebecca (Ricky) Jeffries; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Debra Morris, Beverly Uzzle, Larry (Tilda) Shemwell, Ronnie (Debbie) Shemwell, Keith (Sharon) Shemwell, Marty (Phyllis) Shemwell, and Kevin (Lisa) Shemwell.
