New eyewitness reports are emerging following an earlier report of a possible shooting on Highway 101 near Bailey Avenue.
Motorists reported significant traffic delays on southbound Highway 101, with multiple law enforcement vehicles and what appeared to be a crime scene investigation unit at the scene.
One witness reported seeing officers from several agencies, including CHP, San Jose Police, and Gilroy Police.

Lake Mead Barrel Victim Identified Decades After Suspected Killing

LAS VEGAS — More than four years after a body was discovered inside a barrel at Lake Mead, investigators have identified the victim as Edward Lelburian Jackson, known to his family as “Buddy.”

Clark County Coroner Melanie Rouse announced Thursday that DNA analysis and forensic investigative genealogy helped establish Jackson’s identity, providing a breakthrough in a homicide investigation believed to date back more than four decades.

Investigators estimate Jackson was in his mid-to-late 50s when he died. Las Vegas police determined he had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.

The National Park Service reported discovering the barrel May 1, 2022, in shallow water near Hemingway Harbor. Clothing recovered with the remains was consistent with styles worn during the late 1970s and early 1980s, helping investigators develop an approximate timeline.

Authorities believe Jackson was killed in the early 1980s, although the precise date and circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

Jackson’s relatives told investigators he was originally from Arkansas and traveled around the country. Family members last saw him during a visit with relatives in Arkansas in the early 1980s.

That account places his last known family visit within the same general period investigators believe the killing occurred. However, the information provided does not establish where Jackson went afterward or how he ultimately reached Lake Mead.

Forensic investigative genealogy combines DNA findings with family-history research to help identify unknown individuals. In Jackson’s case, investigators used that approach alongside DNA analysis to restore a name to remains discovered decades after his suspected death.

The identification answers a question that has surrounded the barrel discovery since 2022, but significant questions remain about Jackson’s final movements.

The information released did not identify a suspect, describe a motive or explain who placed his body inside the barrel.

Two Maldivian Pilots Reportedly Detained in Flydubai Terror Investigation

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Two Maldivian pilots employed by flydubai have reportedly been arrested as investigators examine possible connections to an alleged attempt to hijack and crash a passenger flight bound for Israel.

Maldivian news outlet Adhadhu reported that UAE police detained the men October 3. The Maldivian Embassy subsequently notified their families, according to the outlet. Their identities and any formal charges were not disclosed in the reporting reviewed.

The arrests followed the September 30 attack aboard flydubai Flight FZ1073, traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv. Authorities allege that the flight’s Omani co-pilot, identified in news reports as Hamam al-Hammami, attacked the captain with a cockpit emergency axe while attempting to seize control of the aircraft.

The injured captain, Smit Machchhar, managed to open the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew to intervene. The attacker was restrained, and two reserve pilots aboard the aircraft subsequently landed it safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

UAE prosecutors later said the co-pilot intended to crash the aircraft into the passenger terminal at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport. Authorities described the alleged plan as inspired by the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Adhadhu reported that the two detained Maldivians had interacted with the accused co-pilot at work and were recent recruits among six Maldivian pilots employed by flydubai. Those reported workplace contacts do not establish participation in the alleged plot.

Maldivian government representatives declined to comment, while UAE authorities had not publicly detailed the evidence against the two men in the reports reviewed. Their alleged roles therefore remain unclear.

In an October 15 follow-up, Adhadhu reported that the detained pilots had not received access to legal counsel. That account raises additional questions about their detention as investigators continue examining whether others assisted the accused attacker. Neither man has been shown guilty by the reporting available.

Under our justice system, every person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. The fact that the defendant has been charged with a criminal offense is not evidence of guilt.

***UPDATE*** SJPD Arrests Suspects for Homicide #10 of 2026
On May 31, 2026, at approximately 2:19 AM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a shooting that occurred in the area of South First Street and East Reed Street. Upon arrival, Officers located a vehicle that had collided into a building, as well as two adult male victims each suffering from at least one gunshot wound. A third adult male victim was not struck by gunfire, but sustained injuries as a result of the vehicle collision. The preliminary
investigation revealed that the victims were all traveling in a vehicle in the area, when an unknown suspects) fired multiple gunshots into their vehicle. The unknown suspects) fled the scene prior to police arrival.
All three victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment. One victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The other two victims' injuries were later determined to be non-life threatening.

SJPD Homicide Unit Detectives responded to the scene and immediately began a comprehensive investigation into the incident. During the course of the
investigation, Detectives utilized Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras and identified Cameron Haynes and Samuel Jordan as the two primary suspects.
On October 8, 2026, with the assistance of the Covert Response Unit (CRU), Detectives located and apprehended Suspect Jordan in the city of Oakland.
Suspect Jordan was later transported and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
Suspect Haynes was already in custody at the Contra Costa County Jail-Martinez Detention Facility for an unrelated crime.
Both suspects were arrested for multiple crimes, including murder and attempted murder.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the event are under investigation.
This incident was the City's 10th homicide of 2026.

🚨 SJPD Arrests Suspect for
Unprovoked Stabbing
On September 26, 2026, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a local hospital to take a report for a stabbing that occurred earlier in the day in the city of San José. During the preliminary investigation, the adult male victim revealed he was walking in the area of Branham Lane and Kingspark Drive when he was approached by an adult male suspect. The suspect, who was not known to the victim, grabbed the victim and stabbed him multiple times before fleeing the scene. The victim self transported to a local hospital for treatment.
SJPD Assaults Unit Detectives immediately began an investigation and, with the assistance of the SJPD Real Time Intelligence center (RIC), obtained City of San Jose public safety camera surveillance footage identifying the primary suspect as Paul Marquez.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Suspect Marquez. On October 3, 2026, the suspect was located and arrested in the city of San José and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
Due to the nature of the attack, Detectives believe there may be additional victims.

A Placer County Sheriff’s K-9 named Sonic is recovering after being shot during a chaotic overnight standoff involving an armed woman who allegedly threatened deputies and destroyed multiple police drones.

According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant and court-ordered eviction notice on Linda Mullennix, 30, Thursday evening.

Investigators say Mullennix ran inside her home, pointed a gun at a detective and threatened to shoot him.

What followed was an hourslong standoff involving crisis negotiators, tactical officers, drones, tear gas and an armored vehicle.

🚨 THEN CAME THE SHOCKING DISCOVERY!

Deputies reportedly located Mullennix hiding inside a REFRIGERATOR!

Shortly after 7 a.m. Friday, deputies deployed K-9 Sonic as Mullennix opened the refrigerator. Authorities say she shot Sonic in the leg, prompting deputies to return fire.

Mullennix was wounded and transported to a hospital, where she was reported in stable condition.

🐕💙 THE GOOD NEWS: SONIC IS EXPECTED TO SURVIVE!

The 9-year-old Belgian Malinois, who has served with the Sheriff’s Office since 2018, was rushed to Loomis Basin Veterinary for emergency treatment.

Sonic’s handler is Deputy Matt Hoffman. Thankfully, no deputies were reported injured.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office are investigating the shooting.

🚨 KENTUCKY: 8 ARRESTED IN DISTURBING CHILD ABUSE INVESTIGATION — 7 CHILDREN REMOVED FROM HOME

RICHMOND, KENTUCKY — October 8, 2026: Eight adults were arrested following a disturbing investigation involving allegations of child abuse, r**e, in**st, sexual abuse and human trafficking.

According to Richmond Police, officers searched a home on Norwood Drive where seven children, ages 1 to 17, were living in what investigators described as deplorable conditions.

Court documents allege the home contained human and animal f***s, urine, roaches and flies. Investigators also reported finding 10 dogs and a cat inside the residence.

The investigation initially involved allegations that sexually explicit material had been shown to minors.

The eight arrested were:

• Matthew Brumbaugh, 30
• Mark Brumbaugh, 30

All seven children were removed and placed in the care of Social Services.

Richmond Police worked alongside Child Protective Services and the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services. Authorities say additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.

UPDATE: Court records reported October 15 indicate the eight defendants remained in custody, with their next court appearances scheduled for October 21.

Police are asking anyone with information about the investigation to contact the Richmond Police Department.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Hollister Police Union Warns Civilian Layoffs

HOLLISTER, Calif. — The Hollister Police Officers Association is warning that layoffs of every civilian employee at the Hollister Police Department could disrupt law-enforcement services beginning Wednesday morning.

In a statement posted Tuesday evening, the association said City Manager Ana Cortez intends to eliminate all civilian positions at the department, including employees assigned to records, code enforcement, evidence processing, patrol community-service duties, and building and fleet maintenance.

The association claimed the department would be “effectively closed for business” at 9 a.m. without staff to answer nonemergency telephone calls, release police reports, process evidence, return towed or impounded vehicles, or prepare arrest reports for delivery to the San Benito County District Attorney’s Office. facebook.com
Sworn officers would continue responding to emergencies and conducting enforcement operations, but the association argued that officers cannot effectively serve the public without the civilian employees who support investigations, records management, evidence control, facilities, and administrative functions.

The warning comes as Hollister confronts a severe financial crisis. On October 2, the City Council declared a financial emergency after officials disclosed that the general-fund bank account had fallen to only $178 and the city lacked sufficient cash to meet payroll. City officials have attributed the crisis to years of financial mismanagement, inadequate controls, depleted reserves, and unreconciled accounts. Hollister faces continuing deficits in both its general and water funds.

ARREST TWO SUSPECTS AFTER VIOLENT ATTACK AT FAST-FOOD RESTAURANT!
SAN JOSÉ, CA - A family outing turned terrifying when a couple was allegedly attacked in front of their young daughter at a fast-food restaurant.
According to San José Police, on August 3, 2026, officers responded to an assault at a business in the 1100 block of South King Road.
Police say a female suspect physically assaulted the mother. When the father intervened, a male suspect allegedly attacked him, pulled out a gun, and threatened to shoot him. Both suspects fled.

Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology to identify the suspects and their vehicle.
On October 7, detectives and the SJPD Covert Response Unit arrested Alejandro Valencia and Krystelle Tieu Acosta in Union City.

During a search of an associated residence, investigators recovered two fi****ms and additional evidence.
Both suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on allegations of assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery, and criminal threats.
