Day 10 of my favorite things for 2025! 🎁✨
I’m wrapping up my list with something that has truly been a game-changer for my physical and mental health: my new walking pad.
Normally, I love my "water walk talks". It’s how I realign my body, but with this cold weather, getting outside just hasn't been happening. While I could go to the mall or find indoor spots, I realized I just wasn't getting the movement I needed.
This walking pad was a steal (around $150-$160 on Amazon with free shipping!) and JK had it put together in 10 minutes. 🛠️
As you’re finishing up your holiday shopping, whether for others or for yourself, remember it doesn’t have to be extravagant. It just needs to come from the heart and be good for the soul. This gift is helping me "align" for 2026, which is exactly where my heart is headed.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this countdown. 🎄❤️

Day 9 of My 10 Favorite Things: My Pearl Earrings.
Today’s favorite is incredibly close to my heart. These aren't just jewelry; they’re a beautiful reminder of my mom that I get to carry with me every day.
Whether they were an official gift or a treasure I "borrowed" (and just never quite returned! 😅), they are easily one of the most special things I own. It’s funny how the simplest items become the most precious when they come from the people we love.
I find myself reaching for these almost every single day. They go with everything and always make me feel a little more connected to her. ❤️

Day 8 of my favorite things: The gift of memories. 🤍 🕊️
I’ve realized lately that we often have everything we need right in front of us to create the most "unbelievably special" gifts. It doesn’t always take a huge budget, sometimes it just takes a little bit of heart and a trip to hobby.
Today, I’m framing two very special photos: one of my mother-in-law and one of my father-in-law, taken many years ago. I’m also framing some incredible shots taken by someone very dear to me to hang in our home. 🎞️✨
My challenge for you today: Look around at what you already have. How can you turn a regular photo or a forgotten memory into a treasure? It’s the simple, customized touches that truly make a house feel like a home. 🏠❤️

I had a really meaningful conversation with the team at Byers & Co about this season of the year, the importance of working together, faith, and what it looks like to close one year and prepare for the next with intention.
Grateful for the space to reflect and share. If you’re looking for something thoughtful to listen to during the holiday season, I hope this encourages you.

Day 7 of my "Favorite Things" series! 🌟
Today I’m highlighting a brand I am truly obsessed with: Bossy Cosmetics. 💄
If you haven’t heard of them, they are a mission-driven, Black woman-owned beauty brand that is all about empowering women to look, feel, and do good. There’s a reason they’ve been featured on Oprah’s Favorite Things!
I’m wearing the shade “Determined” in the video, it’s the perfect “boss” color for getting things done. I also love “Bravery” for a bolder look. Their formulas are vegan, cruelty-free, and super hydrating.

Who says gift cards have to be boring?
I’m obsessed with this simple idea: pop a gift card into a bag of gourmet popcorn! It takes a "practical" gift and turns it into a full movie-night experience. It’s the perfect last-minute gift for teachers, neighbors, or that one person who is impossible to shop for.

There is nothing like being in the studio and having a moment of clarity while sitting at the mic for The Morris Code. 🎙️
We were talking about music, the "bump music" we use, the production, and just how much we love what we do, and it hit me: music is the ultimate gift. 🎁
Think about it, giving someone a Spotify, Apple Music, or Pandora subscription is giving them a customizable soundtrack to their life. It’s a gift that keeps on giving every single day.

Day 4 of my "Favorite Things" countdown is all about eating local! There’s nothing quite like a meal at Gin Mill, it’s definitely one of my go-to spots.
Pro-tip for the holidays: Instead of a physical gift, try giving the gift of time. 🎁✨ Invite a friend to a monthly lunch date for the year. It’s a shared meal, a great conversation, and a gift that lasts way beyond December!
I’m also grabbing some stocking stuffers from Del's Popcorn Shop. 🍿

Day 3 of sharing some of my favorite finds! 👟 I am absolutely obsessed with these Nikes. Not only are they super comfy, but they’re the perfect way to represent my sisterhood, Alpha Kappa Alpha. I loved the pink with green accents so much, I had to grab the inverse pair too! They add such a fun pop of color to any outfit, whether I'm dressing up or keeping it casual in jeans. 🌸💚

The fall of 2016 I made a conscious decision to walk away from an amazing job working with a staff that I absolutely loved! I literally went to work with family everyday – which was surreal. There was something telling me that there was more in store, what I had wasn’t it. There was more good for me, more new for me, more challenges for me, more time with family for me, more of everything I valued. But, the catch was … I had to let go of all that I had at that time and not look back. So, I did.
It is now spring 2018, about a year-and-a-half since walking away and I am so thankful that I did. My husband and I not only left our jobs, but we also moved our family nine hours north. Yep, two elementary aged school kids moved in the middle of the academic year ~ who does that? We do; People who are crazy enough to follow that still quite voice and go after that thing with every in us.
Here is what happened. Life happened!
There were no job offers, however there were plenty of rejections! That still quiet voice continued to say … create your own. You are no longer a representative of any organization. You are allowed to be – be adventurous, be creative, be home with you kids, be a friend who returns calls, be an entrepreneur with everything that it inside of you. You are allowed to live with intention and show your kids how to do the same.
Within a year-and-a-half I have established, with my business partner, a growing enterprise, J Morris Enterprises with four companies; re-launched a non-profit organization, MDH Educational Foundation, made investments and commitments to my community, began work on a documentary entitled “the education of a race,” and am building an educational consulting portfolio to continue to build on 15 years of passion in k-12 and higher education.
There is nothing better than becoming more familiar with my personal and professional intention and living the life that I have been given.
There are days that I get it wrong – completely wrong - and other days that could go significantly better. Then, there are those days that I am shocked and humbled by a request that is absolutely amazing, and I think … this is good! Real Good! Through it all and at the end of any day the question is the same – did I give it everything that I had?
There is immeasurable value to choosing to live an intentional life – if you haven’t already, try it.
Be true to and authentically you! You will love it, I do!
